Maybe but in reality Suarez wouldn't want to leave Madrid and the cost would be prohibitive as would his wages.

Possibly I did make a reference to Welsh boys leaving early to tend to their sheep maybe it was subliminal picture that stayed in my mind.

He'd have to sign for Madrid 1st though, and I thought he was pretty happy at Barca! <laugh>

But I was talking hypothetically, what if he'd signed for us when we bid for him when he still played for Liverpool then signed Sanchez the next season - we would have had an awesome strikeforce!

What's your opinion Smirnoff? Do you think this Barcelona are the best footballing side since Brazil 1970. I cannot think of one international side since Holland in the early 70s that has had the same level of riches as this Barca team. The nearest equivalent as a club side that I can think of is the great AC Milan side with Gullet and Van Basten plus the likes of Maldini and Baresi.

You could be right - but which Barca team? This one, or the 2009 one with Xavi, Toure, , Iniesta, Henry, Eto, Messi, ect

The 2011 one with Xavi, Ibrahimovic, Sanchez, Villa, Messi, Pique, Fabregas, Iniesta, Messi ect.

Or the 2006 one with Ronaldinho, Messi, Deco, Xavi, Iniesta, Larson, Eto ect.

One thing is certain they are a pretty amazing side and certainly the best side I've ever seen, even including the Bayern and Germany sides. The way they have reinvented the way to play football is pretty astounding. While I've heard of the great Brazil and Holland sides of the 70s and obviously seen clips of them I was too young for that era so can't compare it to these Barca sides.

All those Barca sides are reminiscent of the Ajax side managed by Rinus Michels 1965-1971 & 1975-1976.He also managed Barca too 1971-1975 and 1976-1978. He also managed the Dutch national side reaching the final of the World Cup against Brazil. He was the father of 'total football' which is now played by Barca.

I'm thinking the current one over the past season and a half. Once Suarez was integrated into the team in November 2014, Barca's level went up a level. Witness how they dismantled a very good Bayern side in the semi in the CL last season. I think that was the one team they feared after the mauling they received from Bayern a couple of seasons previously.

Bayern in Heynckes final season were the best team I've ever seen.

One of the things they did really well last night was to play it out from the back without panicking. Even when we had 3 or 4 players pressing their defenders, they still looked to find a pass instead of just hoofing it.

They did everything well last night. Especially patience while we were knocking on the door.
