Reports emerging that QPR will be pricing tickets for £57 for Category B and £65 for Category A games. We are Category A BTW. Last year that would have got me to Villa and Birmingham away with spare change in my pocket. (both of which are bigger clubs than QPR) I think it's a tad harsh, that Bolton fans and other fans from the North will have to pay £57 on top of travel and potential accommodation costs. I think this news has swayed me to opt out of QPR away. I don't mind paying around £50 or so for West Ham, Spurs or Arsenal away because it is THEM, but I won't be paying that money to go to QPR. Even Fulham's price of £45 or so is a bit steep, but then again is is a local derby which is not even 20 minute walk from Stamford Bridge, plus the view at CC is brilliant. I feel for QPR fans as I feel it is their fans that will miss out, and those owners are ruining their reputation as a hospitable club. Is there anyone else that is in a similar boat? Or if not what are your opinions on the matter?
Nope. I prefer going to away games outside of London and making a day/weekend of it and that price is ridiculous.
This a great example of multi board threads QPR pricing their tickets this high is outrageous but unfortunately they know they can get away with it so they'll do it.
Their price increases are ridiculous. Time for a German-style protest: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8986321.stm
I hate the money in the game nowadays and I'm only 17! I hate the "quality costs" excuse because that's not true. It's teams spending money on average or merely good players that pushes this through the roof. Downing £20m Henderson £16m Carroll £35m Milner £26m Barry £12m Santa Cruz £17.5m Lescott £22m And you wonder why they want £20m for the likes of Jagielka? We could have a 100,000 seater stadium and we still wouldn't be able to compete with this. That's insanity. It's not just sugar daddies throwing money. They don't intend to make a loss. That money comes from somewhere and the simple answer is us. Football fans are more than willing to spend £50 on a bloody shirt. And you wonder why they release new ones almost every year? How much does Sky Sports cost you to get SOME of the matches? They don't even give you a great service. If each team had a channel that would make more sense. Eventually we will reach the point where the supporters have been bled dry and the sport will implode. Arsenal aren't even that financially responsible, we just suck the blood a little more quietly.
Sorry, I had an accidental rant. No I will not. Seriously though, over in Germany they protest at the 20 euro mark an we're going to pay 3 times as much.
I have just paid £35, plus booking fee, to go and see Stoke for our 1st game of the season. This represents excellent value, as will Bolton, Wigan, Sunderland, Newcastle, Villa, Everton and West Brom. QPR can go and take a hike, unless they lower their prices and also relocate their stadium to somewhere more convinient for me to get to from Manchester. That is all.
Agree. I had hoped to go to Bolton but Sky moved it to the Sunday. I have booked train tickets to Sunderland and will be going. I can see Villa from my house and WBA is just down the road with Wolves also not far away, these are all great value games.
Being on the South Coast I have it a little harder. Since Portsmouth went, there's only really the London games I can get to.
To be honest, we are talking about clubs that are at least "established" in the league as well...QPR are just being twats, £57 my tits....even if I lived round the corner I wouldn't pay it.
Yes, we do. Chelsea don't, though! I don't think that I've ever met an English Chelsea fan that wasn't from London and both DL and SW6 have just confirmed what I was suggesting. Northern Chelsea fans would be new to me.
