Are you the only guy on this thread Woopert's? Do you want to know what I am thinking? Cook has recruited a couple of old guys in his attempt to build a squad to get promotion. He is still going to have these guys next season thus pushing the younger ones to the sidelines.
Another dire performance! Have to say I had us taking 6 pts from the last two games.........just go's to show we really do have one of the most inconsistent teams in the football league...........dont get me wrong, I like Cooky, I like his frankness and honesty, but he is now up against it, he is managing a team that has one of the biggest followings of fans home and away in the FL and it might just be that he cant cut the cloth! Here's hoping for a turn around in performances
Keep your hair on (sorry) Woops still a way to go we even had a bad run anything can be turned around
Going to be a struggle though - we are so inconsistent. Played really well against Ipswich in two matches, and against Bournemouth as well. Then we play Yeovil and Barnet and struggle like hell.
Because of where Argyle are I've obviously been watching other club's scores over a period of time now. I have to say I scratch my head at Pompey almost every week lately. You have a reasonable class of player in your squad, you have a fairly big squad for this league and the financial clout and backing supporters wise to absolutely p**s league 2. Yet, so many draws and loses against sides you should bury. I realise I don't know the ins and outs of Pompey as you chaps do but I just don't get why your results are so bad compared to where you should be with all things being equal. I know nobody has a right to be at the top whatever their history but I had you down this season to go up automatically. You may still but to be fair it isn't looking like it. The playoffs have to be considered a bit of a failure if that's what happens even if the big game and venue would suit you better than most. How the flying f**k Accrington manage to do what they do on the gates they get god only knows so what is their secret if you can't on your's. Mind you we are almost as bad lately. Totally baffled by it all I might just have to lie down till the seasons over.
When you look at Pompey's history over the past 55 years, for about 40 of those seasons Pompey have usually finished in the lower half of whatever division they have been resident in so Cook is trying to effect a change in the club's DNA, not an easy task. So if the club finish in the play-off zone that will be a considerable achievement as play-offs are not part of the scene at the club. Good luck to Plymouth and hope you get one of the two automatic places as first place has gone. To use an athletics term, Northampton have shed their cobblers for a smart pair of running shoes and put on the "burners" rather like distance runners do sometimes at around the 6500m mark in the 10k.
To me anyone in the top 12 can be in the final mix and if it comes down to goal difference your guys have the third best Goal difference in the division and with the teams around and below you are ahead by a country mile - hopefully it wont come down to goal difference but its handy to have in your cunning kick
