Two games to contend with today... please log in to view this image Tony Pennock says his Under-21 side will be focused purely on putting on the best performance they can against Millwall in the last eight of the U21 Premier League Cup. The young Tigers head into today’s clash at The Den with renewed confidence after back-to-back league wins against Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers last week. And with a place in the semi-finals of the cup up for grabs this afternoon, Pennock says it is important that his players play with no fear, embrace the occasion, and leave everything on the pitch. “We know it’s going to be a difficult game,” he said. “Millwall are second in the Professional Development League South table and doing very well this season. “It’s never easy going to places like Millwall and with their first team not having a midweek game, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a number of over-age players in their squad for the tie. “We are where we are with our squad now. Yes we’ve had a few departures with some of the more experienced members of the Under-21 side leaving the club - players who have played a big part in getting us into the last eight of U21 Premier League Cup. “But, the boys who have stepped up in their place have done fantastically well and handled the step up really well. “We’re going into today’s tie with plenty of confidence after registering back-to-back wins last week and we will go there, give it our all and see where that takes us. “Everyone in the squad is looking forward to the challenge ahead of us and we want to give a good account of ourselves, our Academy and our Club. “It’s been an excellent season for the Under-21 group and to be where they are in the league table at the moment is a decent achievement considering it’s our first campaign at this level. “We’ve had three good results in the cup so far this season, including beating Category One opposition in West Brom in the previous round and we must go out and look to produce a similar performance against Millwall today. “From the first minute to the last, we must stick to our game-plan. We have to be competitive and compete all over the pitch right up until the final whistle. On top of that, we need to play our game and be effective with it, and hopefully that will be enough to see us get the result that we all want.”
Good luck to them, they certainly have got better the last 2 games, so hopefully they can turn Millwall over.

47 clubs from Category One, Two and Three academies compete in the 2015/16 U21 Premier League Cup 13 Barclays Premier League clubs are represented in this season's competiton Southampton were victorious last season and Reading won the inaugural U21 Premier League Cup in 2013/14 Think they play Huddersfield in the Semi, Other Semi is Liverpool v West Ham
I think it's certainly taken seriously by the lads playing in it. As far as I can see, the semi-finals are: Huddersfield U21 v Hull City AFC U21 West Ham U21 v Liverpool U21 The final was due to be mid March, but the games all seem to be running a couple of weeks behind schedule, so it's probably end March. The final could be a decent occasion, it seems it's played over two legs home and away, maybe a KC final?
Premier League @premierleague The #U21PLCup semi-finals are set after @Tigers_Academy’s victory… Huddersfield v Hull West Ham v Liverpool
Well done the young lads and Tony Pennock. Some real talent coming through our youth system at last. Bodes well for the future. Good luck against Huddersfield. Is the final played at Wembley???
