They will no doubt challenge what Johnson said in court. He's basically accusing the club of covering it up. Bad move.

A case based on ifs, buts and maybes.

Once you'd decided that he breached his contract you sacked him. If he was on a long contract you could have possibly sued him for the loss of his intangible asset value i.e. what he stood at on your balance sheet. But he was into his last 6 months at the point you shot him, and could have signed a contract with another foreign club post Christmas for this summer, so his asset value was zip.

The case that you suggested might be possible, would never stand up, as he fulfilled his contractual obligations during the period that you chose to continue playing him and paying him.

Why are you always so aggressive btw mate?

    Good point that.

Apparently there was a meeting with him, his legal team, the club and a PFA rep.

I would expect that whatever was said at that meeting there`d be a record of it.

    Interesting.

All I've read is that Johnson claims that he had admitted to the club that he 'kissed' the girl. Is there anywhere that says that he admitted to the club that he passionately kissed her? ie as far as the club had been told, if anything, they might have been under the impression that it was merely a goodbye 'peck on the cheek' after signing the shirt. Hence why Johnson at the time was pleading not guilty and hence why we continued to play him!

Adam Johnson has told a court his world was "turned upside down" when he was arrested over sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

The former Sunderland player said he "panicked" and was "in turmoil" during his police interview following his arrest in March 2015.

Johnson, 28, told Bradford Crown Court he admitted kissing the girl in his car but said he tried to "play it down".

The court has heard how the pair swapped telephone numbers and messages for a number of weeks before they met in January last year for Johnson to sign a Sunderland shirt for the girl.

Johnson, who has made a number of appearances for England, said WhatsApp messages became "flirty" and "inappropriate" before a second meeting on 30 January.

The winger has admitted grooming and passionately kissing the girl in his black Range Rover, but denies two counts of further sexual activity.

Johnson was arrested at the home he shares with his girlfriend Stacey Flounders in Castle Eden, Co Durham.

He admitted he did not always answer some police questions truthfully.

He said: "My world had got turned upside down and I was trying to play it down as much as I could."

When asked by Orlando Pownall QC, defending, about what state he was in during his first interview, Johnson said: "I was panicking.

"I had all these thoughts going through my mind about everything.

"To name a couple, my career, my family, I was in turmoil."

The footballer said he was "surprised" the girl had told police further sexual activity had taken place.

He said: "I couldn't believe the things she was saying to police.

"I felt like someone else was telling her to say these things."

    The trial continues.

Make of that what you will

Spot on! I have kissed a lot of women - lots of pecks on the cheek - a kiss is a kiss - a passionate open mouthed kiss is totally different (although I've done that a few times but only with one woman in the last 9 and a bit years that I've been with my now wife)

don't know the ins and outs but know a young lady (cough cough) who split with her boyfriend and she got 50% of everything and they had been together for only 4 years. She also had a young kid to him as well. The child might be a factor in any settlement?

Aye - Children Act, Family Law Act etc cover maintenance provision for children. She'll have received maintenance plus a top up. Welfare of the child is the courts 'paramount' consideration under s.8 of the CA.

She'll stick with him through the trial to get her grid all over the papers.

Then dump him when he goes down, try and extract what's left of his estate after the lawyers have taken their cut, sell her story to a tabloid, no doubt get on some 'celebrity' reality show, then bag another footballer.

Discussions are now taking place about the cast Johnson said he had on his left hand. He told police it came up to the tips of his fingers, from slightly above his wrist, but he has now admitted that it was below his knuckles.

KB suggesting that Johnson said this to police so they would think his hand was immobile, and so he couldn't have unbuttoned or unzipped the girl's trousers as is alleged.

Oh look. He has been lying again, what a surprise.

Re him telling Sunderland....who seriously believes he went to the club and said "I have been arrested for sexual contact but I am innocent and will plead not guilty. By the way I did french kiss her. And I sent her inappropriate texts." ?
There is no way he said that to the club imo.
This reflects only on him...not men, not sunderland, not fathers, not footballers ... it just shows him to be someone that no one will want to know.

I'm not sure that makes a lot of material difference though mate. I've just recently had a nasty stroke, and I'm having a lot of difficulties loosening buttons without full use of my finger-tips. Whether the plaster was "above his wrist" or "below his knuckles" wouldn't have affected his ability to loosen a button. You loosen buttons with the tips of your fingers. I do, however, agree with Windy that the more he admits to lying to the police isn't helping him.

Because of years of sitting and watching you wum fella. You bounce from board to board taking things the wrong way and being damn right horrible in the process. You're so hot and cold I just see you as a default wum and can't be arsed with the ordeal of which Tobes has turned up. I have very little tolerance for you and believe when you come here it's just to cause trouble.

It's from a the Mafia games mainly, where you forget it's a game and abuse people. Got no time for you and I don't trust your intentions. Loads of visitors on here I've shown no aggression to but they're not ****ers you are. It's your rep fella, you've established it. Sorry you can't turn it on and off depending on what your intentions are any given day. <ok>

First of all, hope you recover fully from your stroke.

I wasn't really going on about the cast. What I was getting at is yet again he is seen to be lying.

I need the use of all the joints in my fingers when I undo buttons like. I my main knuckle joints weren't in use I'd struggle. Just another case of AJ lying and trying to cover tracks.
