the primary focus for any group of fans with a rival in the same division is to finish above them AT THE VERY LEAST. you simply cannot disagree with that. every single team goes into every single season trying to win every single match. you simply don't understand what i mean about history. if you never experienced it, why would it matter to you? how can you feel something if you weren't around to experience it? i even said that if you were lucky enough to live through it then you SHOULD be very proud of what your club achieved. i wasn't around my club won the league cup. am i proud my club won it? yes. does it mean anything to me? no. would it mean anything to me if we won it next year? yes - the world! how hard is it to comprehend that?! as for saying we can't beat the likes of villa... bloody hell, yeah, cos they are amazing world beaters! do you actually believe we are going to lose every game this season? i think it may be time for guru to put a little wager down...
Guru Excellent post and I agree totally! All teams reach their glass ceiling eventually and it is perfectly reasonable to say that Norwich have reached theirs. There is only so much that team spirit, hard work and determination can do before true quality is needed. Fair play to Supers he is living the dream and I don't blame him but to suggest that this Norwich team will quickly become a regular premiership team is optimisitic to put it mildly! I love the fact that a certain amount of complacentcy has already set in based on nothing more than gaining promotion from a poor league into the toughest league in the world. The Norwich team by Premier League standards is poor. Blackpool had a cracking start last year but come Christmas they were found out and look how that happened! I actually predict that Norwich will collect the majority of their points during the first 2 months of the season and then as teams work them out they will falter badly.
warky, your post is quite good in a way. it is of course possible we have reached our glass ceiling so to speak. until we kick off and play the season out, we won't know for sure. but i've seen enough football in my time to know how good players are and their capabilities. i do not know if we will be able to stay in the top flight for years to come, nor have i said we would. i do think we will survive because i'm confident there will be three teams with less ability than us. its not complacency - its confidence. the manager has instilled the players and even ourselves with confidence. its not done us any harm so far! its also pretty unusual as were normally and pretty grumpy bunch!! looking at blackpool as an indicator, a team who amassed 40 points and were relegated by goal difference only, on paper we have as good, if not a better team than them. we certainly have a better manager. so what is to say, even if we only carry our momentum and 'unknown quantity' joker through to christmas, we won't be able to go one better than them? its a tough league but it is not impossible by any means. newcastle and west brom stayed up no qualms at all. we only have to finish 17th remember...

If you need some help realising what the season coming will entail watch the England vs Wales match, you will see how Crofts and Morrison cope against premier league quality.
