Apparently, Whitrfriargate and Trinity Square will be completed by July, Beveley Gate half filled in and wall lifted by September (I'm doubting this one will be sorted in time), Victoria Square due to be finished by the end of the year. 80% of the works are due to be finished by Spring next year, with the majority of the unfinished works being on side streets rather than main thoroughfares.
Cool - just the bigger stuff like the music venue then? I thought there was quite a few projects that were looking very iffy regarding timescales. I can't remember where I've seen it now.
The music venue is definitely not happening for 2017, though that's been the case for a while. There's too much that's drifted already, much of the stuff that was supposed to be finished by the end of 2016 is now spring 2017 and I'm still not confident that things like Castle Street bridge and Beverley Gate will be finished until late in the year. Even things like the Radisson Blue Hotel will now not be open until late in 2017 (if at all), though it looks like the new Hilton Hotel on Ferensway is on track to open at the end of this year.
No idea, that one's not part of the city centre works, that's just a mess made by a utility company who are responsible for rectifying it.
Dunno, I've not been past there recently, though it was on track last I heard so presumably they are working on it.

I did think they were very optimistic with much of the scheduling. It's a real shame as from a publicity point of view with lonely planet COC everything apart from completion of works is going well. It's disappointing early visitors in 2017 will only get to see all parts finished. There shouldn't have been any slippage, everyone knew the start date was 2017, they should have had contingencies built in to ensure completion ahead of the due City of Culture start date.

Probably cobbles at a guess. This area is synonymous with cobblestones. Just seen the pic from OLM. Was it originally cobbles? Those sets don't look at all in keeping.

I assume it's the Council sub-contracting, how hard can it be to have a contract with a timescale and someone from the council checking progress?
depends which utility wanted it digging up, but YW, Gas nor electric are Council run or sub contracted.
Probably because most have been butchered and lifted. I can assure you there were cobble stones as it was a prime building material. East Riding is home to a few Cobble Stone built Churches.
The east riding perhaps had some cobbles (no doubt nicked when the peasants ventured into the big City), most in Hull were sets.
Dutch is right, there's almost no cobbles in Hull, there's plenty of the old town that still have the original streets and they're all sets... please log in to view this image
