The next few years will be interesting i.e. to see what money is actually invested. Personally I don't think we should deride the deal but have to cause to look over our shoulders to see what coming over the horizon. Imagine a scenario in which they throw money at the club but SL wont. I believe the move is better for Bristol football as a whole. All I can say is looked what was achieved at Bournemouth

From what we know Bournemouth have lots more money being invested in them. Having money is one thing, using it wisely and getting success is another.

Look at us for example. Stadium aside, you'd never know we had a billionaire owner.

Why not.. thats what rivalry is for!

Its ****in laughable.. the current board couldn't get out of there quick enough. Theres more to that deal than meets the eye. I shall be deriding it at every opportunity. Cos we won't be needing to look over our shoulders any time soon.

    **** the Sags.

Somebody said recently that the premiership clubs will earn more next year even if they played in front of empty houses, so there is an argument of how important are gate receipts to Football economy ? If it is getting less and less percentage wise why build new stadia? Nothing is forever and business is always changing. Who in their right mind would own a football club? Lets hope SLs strategy is the right one.

Regardless of how wealthy their owner is, FFP on 7000 fans will never allow them to legally spend a fortune on players. We are struggling on 15k fans every week.
Bournemouth had a young team and got round FFP by paying big big signing on fees and lower wages to players. whether they get all the amount up front or half up front followed by the rest. It's a gamble and paid off but could of so easily failed.

But listening to Clark on Radio Bristol after match last night he didn't seem to happy saying his staff are worried about their jobs etc.
Then the owner saying looking at running of the club and management etc, but when Twentyman picked on that comment jumped on him saying management? He quickly said no the internal management of the day to day running. And the thicko called them "Bristol" not rovers just "Bristol".

Clark is IMO going to be a casualty of this and he knows it, their family tag that they brag about will possibly also go. There is something weird about this, no disrespect to Rovers as I wanted them to have that new stadium and said plenty times before regarding music venue ideally situated being a good thing for Bristol. But he is not a fan and they was previously in the Vanarama league why has he chosen them?
If I was looking for a football club play thing, surely Bolton would of been cheaper with infastructure already in place??

Reports on Otib that Tight Wadi aint as rich as the sags think. I think his personal assets around 20 million and
family in total about 120 million. Most of this dosh will not be in liquid cash, so not sure where the sags have become
bigger than Barca. Piggs could not leave fast enough so expect the sags to be in for a very rude awakening when this
deal unwinds. Surely if you were minted you would pick Bolton up on the cheap not rag ass Rovers.

In the case of Bristol City it is where the club will raise significantly income.

Stadium moves / redevelopments are frequently about raising income not solely attendances e.g. Mr Lansdown is not spending forty five million on raising capacity by 5 - 6000 - The same increase in capacity could have been achieved with a redevelopment costing far less than ten million.

We know with the previous Ashton Vale project it was backed by various people other than SL and that the Football Club would play there. I don't know who is actually behind the new City stadium (other than it through a company owned by SL) or what the envisaged revenue channels are. I am also unclear precisely how much and how money flows through to the Football Club. We know with the likes of Liverpool that the costs of borrowing is levied against the club. Does anybody actually know what the precise financial arrangements are? If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

I don't know who is actually behind the new City stadium (other than it through a company owned by SL ... Its Mr Lansdown. There are no other obvious partners beyond his brand Bristol Sport,

Revenue will be in line with the Ashton Vale project - Martin Griffiths.

Does anybody actually know what the precise financial arrangements are? No. And that is what fans should be asking Mr Lansdown instead of calling for Managers heads every season. Bristol City are tenants in what was their own stadium.

Just been on the gas board and CJS explains FFP. All very good till he becomes delusional about the fan base, surely if they have this massive fan base then they would at least got more than 7k fans on a day that changes their history.
Not knocking him because he loves the club and wants to believe it but surely with us restricted this season to 15k has proved financially we can't compete against other teams.

But with where we are in the league, how many more would we actually be getting on the gate if the capacity was up to 27,000 ?

We're not selling out every home game at the moment so supply suggests that once at full capacity there will be up to 12,000 empty seats for every home game.
Ok there will be games when we might get 18,000-20,000 (Villa at home next season is a likely contender) but even so.

But how important is the gate 10000 EXTRA people at £25 a pop equals £250k times 24 games equals £6 million less expenses say £4 million a year. That's not a lot in terms of promotion aspirations. before we comment on club finances we need to understand how they work. How much does BCFC cost a year to run and where does it come from. Is it associated with the Stadium's financial performance? Who knows, I dont

I don't think anyone does, but as I posted on another thread last week, attendances are apparently not the greatest revenue earner any longer for a lot of clubs, which in turn is creating an even bigger disconnect between owners/Chairman/Holding Group etc and the fans, who will still be there long after the owners/Chairmen etc have gone.
It's al done with smoke and mirrors I reckon.........

Just bear in mind that any stadium upgrade is less about the extra seating capacity and more about its ability to generate off-the-field revenue.
