£3m a year contract, which he would have no doubt got an extension on to take him into his early 30's......so let's say £18m gross. Plus his sponsorship deals, plus when the trials over his bird will undoubtedly rinse him, plus the legal bill......I bet you're talking about £21m in total

The most expensive fiddle in history?

It was a break down of his contract, I get that. Why or what purpose is unclear to me.

Thats what I can't understand, why did she suddenly go to the police?

I am betting she wanted more and AJ realised he was being stupid and said no. By then of course it was too late, he had already acted inappropriately.

Who knows what else was said but something does not add up in all of this.

To be honest I can see him being sentanced only on what he has pleaded guilty to and you know his legal team have planned for that, so I bet he stays out of prison.

His life is still ruined though.

She didn't. She broke down in tears after people were calling her over social media and told her father, who then went to the Police.

    1) Making a pass at a woman when you wife/partner is at home with your new born daughter is behaving inappropriately. .. grooming a 15 year old child and having sexual contact with her is being a sexual predator.
    2) what doesn't make sense is why a 28 yr old man wants sexual contact with someone he knows is a 15 yr old child.
    3) his life was not ruined by anyone other than himself so tbh **** him.

Having sexual contact with a 15 yr old child is not being stupid ...its child abuse.

I have no idea what will happen to him sentence wise but morally speaking he is a **** of the highest order...to suggest the 15 yr old girl was blackmailing him by demanding money is crap imo

Well that answers that question and makes perfect sense. I have not exactly read into the case in depth.

Interesting that he says that the club were aware that he had admitted kissing the girl. Surely that's not true is it? Otherwise why not sack him then?

Mr Johnson admits kissing the teenager at the centre of the case and an offence of grooming, but denies two counts of sexual activity with a child.

Replying to questions from his defence barrister, Mr Johnson also admitted he had texted "other women".

Orlando Pownall QC defending, asked Mr Johnson: "You pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child and meeting a child following sexual grooming. Did you accept kissing (the girl)?"

    The footballer said: "Yes."

Mr Pownall continued: "Did you digitally interfere with her or indulge in oral sex with her?"

Mr Johnson answered: "No, I never."

Born in Sunderland, Mr Johnson began his career at Middlesbrough before moving to Manchester City and then on to Sunderland for £10m in 2012.

The footballer has previously pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child and one charge of grooming. He was sacked by Sunderland as a result.

I reckon that's been in thrown in by his barrister to make him look like a rat, but to show it's not just underage girls specifically he goes for and that this one has been a 'mistake' sort of thing, but just one of many girls he was interacting with.

The jury have now been brought into the court for day seven of Adam Johnson’s trial in Bradford.

The first witness today is DI Aelfwynn Sampson, the lead investigator on the case.

She told the court there was no CCTV recordings available from the area where Johnson and the teenager met.

DI Sampson said that Johnson’s car was not picked up on any ANPR cameras in the region on the night of January 30.

The police officer went on to say that the force was analysing data from the defendant’s mobile phone before a second interview with the teenage girl was organised.

Sunderland Football Club were made aware of Johnson’s arrest by Durham Police, the court has been told today.

Prosecution barrister Kate Blackwell QC asked Det Insp Alfwynn Sampson if she spoke to the club’s chief executive Margaret Byrne.

The officer replied: “Yes that is correct. On March 2 Sunderland football club called and made contact with my office to discuss what had happened. I made arrangements to meet her at the training ground.

“Myself and a colleague went to meet Margaret Byrne to discuss the offences and consider safeguarding for any other young people he may come in contact with through his work as a professional football player.”

DI Sampson went to say that what Johnson had told police in interview was not disclosed to the club.

Sunderland Football club initially suspended the winger after his arrest, however he was reinstated as a player in April 2015.

The £60,000-a-week star was sacked by the Black Cats on Thursday February 11, after two previous guilty pleas to the crown court.

The court also heard that Margaret Byrne contacted police officers after another Sunderland player, Connor Wickham, complained the teen had tried to contact him on social media.

DI Sampson said: “It was simply to ‘like’ that picture on Instagram.”
