Despite there being 12 games left of the season in the Premier League, the PFA team of the year has already been voted upon with the ballot held around January/February time. This tends to cause a skew in the choice of players, however with this period coinciding with Saints recent good fortunes this could give the players a good chance of being selected. At this stage of the season it seems likely that there will be players from a more varied selection of clubs than there has been for many years. Who do you think should be in the team this year (4-4-2), based on performances up until now? Here is my selection: GK Lloris (Tottenham) DR Walker (Tottenham) DC Alderweireld (Tottenham) DC Shawcross (Stoke) DL Bertrand (Southampton) MR Mahrez (Leicester) MC Kante (Leicester) MC Ozil (Arsenal) ML Payet (West Ham) SC Vardy (Leicester) SC Lukaku (Everton) subs: Butland (Stoke), van Dijk (Southampton), Dier (Tottenham), Alli (Tottenham), Willian (Chelsea), Ighalo (Watford), Kane (Tottenham) Here is last years team (it should be a bit different!): http://www.thepfa.com/news/2015/4/26/premier-league-team-of-the-year-2015
Does it have to be 4-4-2? If so: Gk: Can't pick between Schmeichel, Cech or De Gea Dr: Bellerin CB: Toby CB: Koscielny DL: Monreal Rw: Mahrez Cm: Kante Cm: Drinkwater LW: Ozil CF: Vardy CG: Kane
GK Cech DR Bellerin DC Alderweireld DC Van Dijk DL Monreal MR Mahrez MC Kante MC Alli ML Payet SC Kane SC Lukaku
GK - De Gea - tricky one, but he puts in most matching saving displays RB - Bellerin CB - Toby CB - Van Dijk LB - Monreal MR - Mahrez MC - Kante (c) - my player of the season MC - Alli ML - Payet SC - Vardy SC - Lukaku If it was not restricted to 4-4-2 I would have Willian or Ozil in for Lukaku. Fuchs was close to the LB spot and Ighalo has had a good season, but can't ignore Vardy
Lloris Bellerin Alderweireld Van Dijk Monreal Mahrez Alli Ozil Payet Vardy Lukaku Subs: Butland, Shawcross, Dier, Kante, Willian, Ighalo, Kane
Looks like most of the choices were fairly straightforward, albeit some of our choices may have changed by now, certainly my defence has!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36106596 De Gea Bellerin Rose Alderweireld Morgan Mahrez Alli Kante Payet Kane Vardy
