I agree but we shouldn't underestimate the part clubs play - whilst they want their talents to stay, they also recognise the huge offers for their assets and actively push for the transfer.

The ones I can think of are Alonso, Torres and Mascherano.

But it's far more prominent at small clubs like Everton.

It would be good to see Barkley, Lukaku, Stones realise their potential at a proper club.

Far more prominent at clubs like Everton...I see.....

Odd that, given that you've lost every quality player you've had in the last decade and we lost errrmmmmm - Lescott.

What like Baines, Jags, Barkley and Stones you mean.

All of whom have been pursued and bid for by 'bigger' clubs - but we told them all to **** off. I'm merely putting into context Jimmy's nonsense - with the use of fackhts <ok>

The only one I'd forgotten was the £27m we liberated from United for Screech lol.

Barkley & Stones are still young. Plenty of time for them to leave.

You did reject offers for Jagielka but £10m for Jagielka would be stupid to accept. And £15m for your best player at the time in Baines was just insulting. I'd compare those situations more to the Arsenal bid for Suarez, where they didn't bit a sensible amount so we told them to **** off.

With the imbalance of money in football now its impossible for clubs like ourselves and yourselves to resist offers from the financial powerhouse clubs, because they have so much more money than us.

You're totally wrong I'm afraid. The last TV deal made it much easier for clubs to hang onto their best players, as there was no financial necessity to cash in. As the vast majority of PL clubs are now in profit.

The next deal sees a further £30m per club incremental cash (starting this summer), so the need to raise revenue from player sales becomes even less appealing. As always players who push for the move will be a major part in whether they move on or not, but the owning clubs being the orchestrators will diminish further. Leicester being able to pay Vardy £80k a week to remove the temptation for him to move on, is a classic example. That would have been unthinkable a few years back, for a club of their size. The gap has narrowed, not widened mate.

when i watch other teams play and then watch us, we really don't have 1 player that can get to the byline and beat a man do we? or create something out of nothing

The problem isn't so much the needing to raise revenue, I see it more as the problem being the player pushing so he can earn more a week. I know you say Leicester can pay Vardy 80k a week now but if Man Utd wanted him they can offer him 300k a week easily. Whatever extra money Leicester are making off the TV deal Man Utd will make more + extra from other massive sponsorship deals. The only place it'll help is in resisting offers from foreign clubs outside of the usual big 3, we've seen already how some pretty highly rated players are going to smaller PL clubs. As an example no way do Stoke sign players of the quality of Imbula & Shaqiri 5 years ago.

Even 3 years ago the prospect of being able to get £25m for a 29 year old player would have made the wages a moot point, as a club the size of Leicester would have had no option but to cash in.

That's the difference mate. Of course there's still a gap between the elite few and the rest, but that gap has definitely been narrowed. Stoke is a great example, they've been able to sign players who of a quality that would have been unthinkable a few years back. Ok the very best players will still end up at the most wealthy clubs, but the next tier are now able to recruit players who are not far off that level, therefore the disparity in class has been reduced. Hence the league we've had this year. I think it's great personally.

    Stones is ****

Since Jagielka replaced him they've stopped shipping multiple goals per game so have finally won a couple

He might be "athletic" or have "potential" but he can't organise a defence for ****

Best cash in on the hype now. Stones going for big money will be the most undeserved CB transfer ever (yes, overtaking David Luiz for £50m)

The only thing the extra money does for lower PL clubs is allow them to raid clubs lower down the pecking order than they are. The ones above them will still take what they want.
It's like all these daft arguments about how much we've spent. I'm not just being defensive about my own club- but it doesn't matter if you offer £20mil for a player and £100k pw, - if someone else offers £30mil and £150k then they'll get their man almost every time.
You can add up all the money we spend and come up with a huge figure- but in terms of individual contracts we still get out gunned and end up paying a lot for secondary targets.
The only reason we got Benny, Lovren etc was because no-one else wanted them at the asking price. If they had done, they'd have got them.
It's a pecking order, and even if the wealth of clubs increases, the pecking order stays the same- unless a big money sugar daddy comes calling.
