Yes, in terms of the team he is in.

A world class player in a smaller team has a more significant role because he is the go to man every single time, there is no one to step in for him if he is off form or doesn't perform. At bigger clubs if a player doesn't perform there's 3 or 4 other match winners in the team that might take over if that certain world class player is off form or nor performing. So yes, in that sense he is less significant at Man Utd than he would be at Everton.

Must've missed the point where Levante was Messi's club at any point in his career? I was merely stating that from a footballing point of view, as a supporter, it would be nice to see a footballer showing loyalty to his own club and trying to achieve something with them rather than move to one of the big club. I never said it was the wrong decision to leave for one of the big clubs, you all got upset far too quickly because you viewed it as a dig at Man Utd and Rooney when it was nothing of the sort.

In summary you've complained that I said Rooney wasn't significant at Man Utd, when I didn't say that. And you've also complained that I've said players should go to really small clubs because they'll be more significant, again something I haven't said. Basically you've been arguing against stuff I haven't said. Well played.

Sorry but the way you wrote it sounded like he wasted his career, if a player has the talent he should strive for the best position he can get,
I know we would all like any home grown talent to stay with the club for life but in reality they want fame, trophy's, money and recognition for their career and so will most probably move to a place they feel will afford them this

Yes, I agree with that. As a fan I'd like to see a player sticking with his own club and trying to carry the club to some success, rather than instantly move to one of the big clubs.
