RedorDead I think that the state of Bristol football is a disgrace, I really hope that we and you can make serious efforts to move up through the leagues, whether we make the playoffs this year or whether we strengthen the squad in the summer and push for it next year is something I don't have the answer to, I do believe however that if the City fans get behind the team that not only will you survive this year but with the backing of Lansdown that if the right players are brought in in the summer you should be able to at least push for a playoff spot next season
This summer will be different for us. What a lot of city fans and others fail to understand is this season we've been hindered by the ground only holding 15k so income is restricted. Next season we will have the ground completed and the corporate sections, which will make more money than the attendance with sponsorship's etc so income will be up. Our fans wonder why we left Cunningham and JET go but they were possibly the biggest earners. Cunningham was still on his championship wages and JET was being part paid by Ipswich as part of the deal, so getting them off the books was good. I've said all along this season we would struggle because I believe that we come up too early with a 3/4 built stadium. But as you say I agree football in Bristol is poorly supported considering the size of Bristol and will only generate fans when success comes. Looking at both Wembley appearances last year proves that the support is there, just that it's fair weather supporters. My step father is a gashead and won't go when they are in the league they are in at the moment, but unless supporters turn up when times are hard the clubs can't sustain the cost to get any better. So both City and Rovers fans ought to get off their arses and go and support the local teams then one day Bristol might have a successful period because FFP restricts even the richest chairman. Anyway essay over, been up since 4am and shattered now after travelling to Bedford just to train someone
A Barnet fan is very bitter http://www.onlybarnet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10579 The off bitter comment from Wycombe https://gasroom.org/discussion/1777/bristol-rovers-takeover And I just noticed, on otib, they had a long ongoing thread about us called Basement Rovers. They have renamed it Sell Out Rovers. I smell jealousy!
Jealous of what ?, yeah well done you all now have something to cream yourselves over but I'm not bothered, I'm alright with what we have, I'm finding all this point scoring quiet funny to be fair, good luck to you and your new little adventure.
I must admit to being slightly tempted to vote in the ****heads new mod poll. That didn't end to well last time.
I meant the Barnet fan and a couple of Wycombe fans you donut. Flipping hell Tom but that was one hell of a bite from you when I wasnt even fishing for it. And what point scoring are you on about? Relax Tom, you are 2 leagues above us and have a much needed improved stadium. You are not out of the bottom 3 while the same weekend we drop out of the play offs. Relax
There are some bitter reds on otib though going by some comments. Or its a complete lack of knowledge of all the facts from today.
When I say lack of knowledge, I mainly mean ignorant. I have read on otib "why Rovers?" So they ask the question but are too ignorant to accept the answer. Al-Qadi has said his reasons. Just open your eyes because its all common sense. The size of Bristol gives massive opportunity. We do have a big fanbase, yes they dont turn up 99% of the time but they are there so there is evidence that there is already a fanbase. Our average attendace at home has gone up over 2000 since the last time in this league. Our away figures match Championship teams such as City. Imagine the potential if we do go up a league. Also, we do have planning permission for a new 21k seater stadium. We have a good acedamy as well in place. Compare this to all other league 1 and 2 clubs and tell me a better option. Now you can see "why Rovers." I have read on otib "Higgs jumped ship." But he hasnt. He is still with the club, along with the other former directors. I have read on otib "sell out Rovers" and "Rovers have done the thing that they slated City for having - a sugar daddy!" Then comments about "the new owners have only £60 million which is peanuts." So in that case, how do we have a sugar daddy if we only have some change when compared to Lansdown? How are we doing the same as what City has done in past years - spending over £50 million? How have we really sold out? We just got someone in to clear our debts, get us our stadium that we need and hope fans come and hope DC suceeds and relying on youth prospects and not throwing money away. So many other comments on otib that are unfactual which makes some of there posters come across as bitter and jealous. But clearly, if it aint bitterness or jealousy then its just total ignorance. Dont want to believe or accept the fact that we can actually progress if we do things right instead of staying in Citys shadow being ragbag Rovers. Then you got some good honest reds on otib who is not ignorant and can see all the positives for us wishing us good luck. Hoping we do rise up and be competitive again in derbies and can see the bigger picture that Bristol will be benefitted. I feel our posters on here are better than other forums. Hopefully the City posters on here are better than other red forums and not so blinkered as some on otib for example. Tom for example even came over here and asked questions to gain the facts and not just make a decision based on ignorance. Nice one Tommy
My little outburst was because of reading slagchat , all posts on that forum were more slagging us off than talking about your great news so kinda got annoyed by it (I'm a sensitive one me) , Rovers fans on here seem far more sensible than those cnuts over there
Well we all know at least 1 Yeovil fan will be upset.... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
