I can't either tbh but he scored over 30 goals in a couple of seasons as the CF. And tbf Rooney's figures for nearly every season he's played are no worse than the likes of Andy Cole who never managed 30 goals in a season. The point is that Rooney's best pposition has always been a source for contention. He had a great partnership with Van Nistlerooy and earned the reputation of being a very good second striker or AM and the same for a period of time with Saha. IMO and for anyone who's watched him throughout his career, his best days were playing that deeper role. He played the 09/10 as the CF and scored loads but became less technical imo. He's a versatile player and even when he was played left of Tevez, he still made a massive contribution to our team.

Rooney's biggest downfall was overthinking his game. When he didn't think too much and just played, he demonstrated a natural ability that was second to none. The "playing like he's with his mates in the park" mentality was what he should have stuck to. Sadly, he started second guessing himself, began to think too much, lost the edge and turned to poo, never living up to his potential or people's expectations.

 

The last time his contributions in a game made a difference was September 2015

I think a lot of forgetting of why Ferguson nearly ****ed him out twice and how rooney often doesn't look bothered.
