Yes, Stick, I'm in the same boat. Sounds like aftertiming from me but I didn't bet today and totally missed it. For many reasons, should have had at least a few euro on it. Oh well. Oh, good shout on SC btw, glad to see this good horse back to form.
What we reckoning, a Chartreux/Valhalla double to round the day off? Absolutely awful conditions. Hope its a bit better at the festival!
Booooom glad you were on oddy! Great ride by mattie there! Swept to the front at the last minute! Loved the ground etc.. - just waiting to leave Ascot in the next half hour or so! (That is Bangkok Pete in my avatar with me on of course )
Sorry! I'm not usually one for masses of info! But it's a yard I ride for every weekend! and can't be seen to be posting it online as I'm sure connections won't be happy - however I will add more people to message next time they are confident of a big run (not nessicarly of winning but has a big chance)
Well done Wooly i"m pleased for anyone getting a winner...your entitled to impart info to who you want...your not obliged to...they get beat more often than not anyway..
A really sad day today losing DEPUTY DAN. He was always very honest and when you look at his profile you can clearly see that he really didn't know how to run a bad race. His yard will miss him terribly. It wasn't a vintage day of NH racing but all the same there were some very noteworthy performances. At Wincanton RAYVIN BLACK was as game as you like leading all the way in the Grade 2 hurdle and one by one seeing off all the opposition. At Ascot DIFFERENT GRAVEY lived up to his name and it was amusing to see Henderson looking a little shellshocked by the nature of his victory. His face was saying "what the hell are you doing Nico, that's ballsed up this ones mark for the foreseeable". SILVINIACO CONTI has obviously come on a bundle for a breathing op and the application of blinkers. He raced with the zest that we have not seen for some time and from a long long way out could be called the winner. Fehily gave him a peach of a ride as well. He bypasses Cheltenham this year in favour of a tilt at the National. He will be the class act in the race and if taking to the fences you can see him running a huge race. At Haydock there was yet another Saturday winner for Kerry Lee when BISHOPS ROAD improved again and was ultra game. Its a tough call between Kerry and Lizzie Kelly for the NH Lady of the Turf Award at the moment. My personal favourite performance would probably have been missed by most however. Thirteen year old PEARLYSTEPS led all the way in the Haydock Hunter Chase and never for a moment looked like stopping. It was a smashing and heart warming performance.
Cheers Ardy i like others I am sure am more than happy to share with anyone that wants it as I say it will just be when the yard are confident of a big run in with a chance - there are no certainties so whether it gets placed wins or what ever! Most of my selections are down to my own research etc.. But as you say when some info gets beat - I am bit like o **** that's made me look bit stupid! ! We can talk abit more on gold cup day over a nice pint of Guinness! Im sure you said you were going that day!
Massive shame to lose such a big horse! Was great over hurdles and just couldn't keep on his feet over the bigger obstacles but this season really rejuvenated him - gave Thistlecrack more to think about this season than anyone else - was a big fan of the horse big shame and heart goes out to all connections and will be truly missed
Stick you think he Conti will go to the national or stick to the Bowl ? His jumping you would think the fences are no issue ! One of the best jumpers in training at the moment imo!
I would imagine Woolly that they will school him over some National fences at home and see how he goes but I think the National is the plan.
