Cor, Lillestrøm. I used to watch them regularly when I was living down the road in Strømmen. In their time they would be a good side and for one season a certain ex-Chelsea player, David Hay, came and managed them. I palled up with him as he was in the same language class as me and I'd be left tickets for home games; quite often in the director's box. For one game I was sitting in front of Pele and as I was there a few times some of the directors thought that I was regularly flying over from England to scout their players when, in actual fact, I just took the bus over from the other side of the river. This was all in the days before the internet and international television feeds. And a few weeks before an important England vs Sweden match I contacted the FA asking if they wanted a copy of a recent Sweden game for analysis. They wrote back asking that that they would. So I taped the Sweden vs Someone game and then sent it off thinking no more of that until a few weeks later the tape was returned back to me in Norway with a hand written thank you note by Sir Bobby who was the England manager at the time.
The note should be somewhere in a locked container in Porthmadog if I have it still. I have moved house and countries a dozen times since then and who knows what I have lost in that time. I fear that I have lost things like the leather armband of the late Ronnie James Dio, for example. So if I have it it will be there but I won't have intentionally have slung it.
We'll be below Reading next year. Should have a look at their young centre half Cooper. He seems to have turned them round defensively since he started playing.
