"The original filing indicates that the phone – which is actually owned by Farook’s employer – has iCloud backup enabled, the contents of which the FBI could easily access through existing legal methods." - The Guardian In my opinion, this is not about gaining access to intelligence on the specific device in question - it's about creating a dangerous legal precedent that will be abused.
I know you've stressed it before but repeating something does not make it true. Words like "dangerous" and "will" and "abuse" are just intended to raise the level of emotion. If you ever so calmly said "this might set a precedent that a phone manufacturer has to allow access to a known (not suspected) terrorist's phone" then: it would fit the facts; your statement would read rather differently and this wouldn't seem like quite the mass infringement of human rights that you seem to be trying hard to force upon us as truth. Following the recent outages the site will be taken down for a complete reinstall of everything. This is likely to be in the early hours of either Saturday or Sunday morning, so if you have insomnia, be warned that you might not be able to come on here!

There should be a perk for people like me. Blimey don't forget that the BBC give me a free TV licence and I don't have to pay to go on the buses. Even the government pays part of my heating bill. So I sit in my house watching the TV for free with subsidised heating with the very lovely Mrs Godders using her free bus pass to go and get the shopping and I am thinking that all I need now is a free bottle of a decent malt every week and I shall be in heaven. You young chaps should not forget that you have a responsibility to look after an old fellow like me and should chip in to keep me supplied with scotch. Just imagine the pearls of wisdom that would be forthcoming from me after two or three glasses of malt. You would or be cleverer and wiser with the benefit of my extensive knowledge, experience and wisdom.
The last time anyone called me a young chap was so long ago I can't remember who it was, so thank you Godders, you've just made my day! I'll buy you a glass of Caol Ila if we ever meet, it's a promise.
