Got my ticket today and am really looking forward to our first competitive game against you. I hope you play a strong side. You wont know much about us but we were a good side last season in League 2. After selling our two best players (Woods and Goldson) to Championship sides in the summer we have been pretty awful (especially at home) for most of this season in League 1 but have played better in the Cup games. We have a pretty useful masked Swiss keeper (Leutwiler) and I suspect we might need him next week,. We also have a good right back on loan from Fulham (Grimmer). Mangan is our main threat up front and being a scouser might give him a little more motivation if it is needed. Our pitch is pretty good so we do not even have that advantage. We will play 5-3-2 and often do not get out of our own half very much at home though Akpa-Akpro is a threat on the break. Hope you guys coming down enjoy your visit to a beautiful part of the world (which by the way is definitely NOT in Wales) but I also hope you do not enjoy the match too much. Our lads will have to play out of their skins to trouble your first team (or even your second team) but I suppose stranger things have happened in football (though not often).
I'm just pleased that someone is looking forward to the game. It will be interesting to see how we fare against your 5-3-2 system. As you may be aware, we don't actually have a system, we have a philosophy. We'll aim to keep it tight for the first 90 minutes and then throw everything at it in injury time. If we beat you then I fully expect LVG to proclaim that we can still win the PL. Good luck.
Ferguson used to struggle with this type of game; Yeovil, Exeter, Burton etc. etc., so no doubt van Gaal will be completely bamboozled by it. We should stroll it but no doubt won't, it'll be a scrappy one nil win or a nil nil and we'll have to take them back to Old Trafford. Which will be great for the Shrewsbury fans but completely depressing for those United fans who will be forced to buy a ticket for another pile of **** to watch.
To be fair he used to struggle because these games invariably came whilst we were in the middle of a title challenge and CL run. LVG has 99 problems, but a title and CL challenge certainly ain't one

Thanks Treble I have nothing against Man U (or any other Premier League team). I doubt I will get the chance to gloat even if I wanted too as even if you send a young team you must still be favourites. A replay would do us nicely to recoup some of the money our manager has spent on poor players this season.

Well Treble I sat all the way through the game at Chesterfield where we lost 7-1 (our worst defeat for over 50 years) so I am quite happy to sit through a dull game after that. I would love to see us play at your place as that would bring the number of clubs I have seen us play away at up to 57.
It'll certainly be an interesting game, you have loads injured and we have several first teamers cup tied. We seem to be hoping that LVG is still in charge as new managers are always a pain. Saying that, Jose signed lots of stuff for fund raising to a kid who sadly passed away when we played chelski last year. I'm guessing your board will wait for LVG to muck up a little more before sacking him. Perhaps there'll be a vote of confidence today?
