That's what I don't get. With so much riding on it, why are we not sacking him now. To say we will only sack him after we are out of Top 4 and FA Cup (and the ramifications it will have on 2016/17 season) is like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. And for what? Bcos his contract stipulates we might have to pay him an extra few million if we sack him beforehand. Is that really what we're balancing the club's future against? Van Gaal's pay packet? Seriously who gives a 5hit. Pay him off and get rid now.
I think, to a degree, that this is all down to Woodward. As much as they are trying to save on a payout because LvG would not have met the terms of his contract by failing to qualify for the CL - it is also about Woodward having good enough reason for sacking him having hired him in the first place. Rather than just get rid now because of bad form, Woodward wants to wait until he has some credible grounds as this will protect his professional pride.
Yeh plus what I've heard is he's compounded his own precarious position by defending LVG throughout the season to the Board. He's dug himself a hole he cant get out of and I wish someone would just shovel the soil over him.
He's on loan at Hull. What's Balotelli doing when you lot are playing? Probably polishing his helmet.
Balotelli is probably setting fireworks off in his chopper or doing something similar that's good for career development. Not sitting at home playing FIFA against Matth
Yep I hear that setting off fireworks in inappropriate places is always ideal for a "career" in Liverpool
All the fcker had to do was lose against the shrews, the midgets and the goons, and he couldn't even manage that!
I wouldn't complain if he didn't revert back to the original LVG mark1. The rumour us that Woodward and the GGs were going to let him stay until the end of the season no matter what. If he keeps winning till the end of the season (ALL the matches!) may be he deserves to stay until the summer. Just may be.
Yeh I was only kidding. I don't dislike Van Gaal more than I love United playing well and winning. And yeh you're spot on, he's here to the end of the season regardless. But tbh Christian, nothing he does now will be enough to allow him to be here next season.
Starting a new series in which we can reminisce about games that will come back to haunt us at the end of the season. Game 1 Manchester United 1 v 2 Norwich City http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35078521 Half of Norwich's away league wins, over one third of their away league points and one sixth of their away league goals took place at Old Trafford. Norwich's other away league win was against Sunderland.
If it wasn't for the remotest prospect that ££££ or Arsenal will implode and we somehow manage to scrape into 4th spot I would happily see the season end now. Fast forward to the Euros and the summer transfer window, plus the inevitable change in manager - and there is lots to look forward to. This season has just been too painful to remember.
I would draw attention to that period in December where we went out of the CL with a loss to Wolfsburg (who went on to draw the mighty Gent in the next round), loss to Bournemouth, loss to Norwich and loss to Stoke. We've never recovered from that.
Do you guys all want mourinho? I know a couple of United fans and they are very much split. A couple want him but couple couldn't stand him joining given the type of football he has Chelsea playing and his general ****ishness. For all the 'we are united we have a way of playing' mourinhos style isn't want you'd call traditional United. If anything he's more like LVG in that wants to be solid at the back.
Right now I'd take him in a heartbeat, as much because he isn't van Gaal as anything else. He'd turn us round, no doubt, and would simply be a short term fix. I genuinely believe we're going into a long term recession if something isn't done to stop the rot right now. Ideally Woodward also ****s off but we definitely 100% need to get rid of van Gaal before it's too late. I don't buy the cliche he only plays negative football. With the players at his disposal, he won't. His original Chelsea certainly didn't. He would cut his cloth accordingly.
Some more media opinion of LvG's failings .... Sunday Times journalist Jonathan Northcroft "The emergence of youngsters like Marcus Rashford was the last-chance saloon for Louis van Gaal at Manchester United. Rashford started so well but against Liverpool at Anfield he was full of instructions and struggled at right-midfield. He already looks short of confidence. Players seem to get worse under Van Gaal rather than better. And that is one of the reasons why the club will look at it and think: This just doesn't work." Mark Lawrenson "Louis van Gaal is the wrong man, in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is yesterday's man, the manager. He has always been yesterday's man. He is managing in the wrong era. I would stick Ryan Giggs in there until the end of the season and see what he can do."
I appreciate this is before kick off, but having seen the line up against Liverpool, in a game we have to win or at the fcking least play for pride, it is absolutely clear the contempt this prick has for the club, and all I can say is... SACK THE ****.
The only rational explanation is that he wants to get sacked so he can get his pay off. No one who has had the success he's had in his career can be that incompetent.
