I'm reading through the information on this one and it seems to be three or four different versions of the story going on. She says one thing "Friend 1" contradicts it and her father contradicts this too! The defence will have a field day with the evidence I reckon as it looks a shambles - if you read this as a story it'd be on Jeremy Kyle with a lie detector FFS! He's going to get a very short sentence I reckon from what I am reading of the happenings in court

 

Aren't the grooming charges the more serious charges?

Even if he's not guilty of these 2 outstanding charges, won't he go down for the 2 guilty pleas?

Depends mate - knowing the justice system in this country, probably not.

Grooming isn;t the most serious - the other 2 (actually having sex with her for instance) is a far more serious charge. The 2 he admitted are (wrongly IMO in the eyes of the law) less serious offences. that's why the carry a maximum of 2 years in total and the others carry 14 years! I truly think the parents and friends are idiots looking at the quotes. When the defence gets to call their witnesses they will have a field day with what's been said - no 2 people are telling the same story and, looking at "Friend 1" and her testimony, it looks to me that she only went to the police because he couldn't get away from his girlfriend to have sex with her! May be a little harsh but the timeline stated by that friend seems to say exactly that!

All in all the only person I believe so far is Johnson in his admission of the 2 charges - I'll reserve judgement on the rest! A good defence lawyer will get him a lenient sentence

 

Me neither! Right from the beginning, I thought the grooming charges were the most serious because it shows premeditation.

But if he's found not guilty of these charges does that mean in effect that if he tried to do something but it didn't actually happen, then that lessens the crime?

Or is grooming like conspiracy, where the intent is as serious as the actual crime?

I don't know, we'll just have to follow the proceedings & see what happens.

 

And that's how it should be - but it sadly isn;t - his lawyer has told him to plead guilty to the 2 lesser charges - "grooming" someone to have sex is not (apparently) as bad as actually having sex with someone who's underage - IMO it should all fall into the same category

The live posting of the Johnson (first interview) transcript just shows Johnson can't be trusted.

 

Dr Hunton, a forensic expert with three computing degrees, has told the court he downloaded data from Johnson’s iPhone 6 after it was seized by police.
Dr Hunton also downloaded data from the 15-year-old girl’s phone, the court hears.
This included a picture of her in a white bikini.
The expert says the image can be traced to February 16, 2015.

Dr Hunton tells the court that evidence shows Johnson searched Google for ‘legal age of consent’ on his iPhone.
He then read an article on the Daily Mirror website about the legal age of consent in the UK and around the world.
He Googled “legal age of consent” on his iPhone at 9.26am on February 3, 2015, the court hears.
This was just days after his alleged sexual encounter with the 15-year-old on January 30.

Orlando Pownall QC is now cross-examining the computer expert for Adam Johnson’s defence.
They spend some time discussing the timing of messages sent between the teenager and her school friends.
Dr Hunton confirms that deleted data cannot be recovered from a Blackberry handset belonging to the alleged victim.
He goes on to confirm that months of data was wiped from the girl’s phone between February and April last year, after she went to the police.

DC Walton says on being told he was being arrested, Johnson said: “Its [the girl’s name]. I just gave her a couple of shirts.”
DC Walton said after being arrested, Johnson had to grab onto the bar in his games room because he became “a little bit shaky”.
He then asked to be allowed to speak to his girlfriend Stacey.
Ms Flounders was heard to ask Johnson “Who is she?”
She also asked how old the girl was and Johnson replied: “Well she said she was 16”.
DC Walton told the court Johnson gave Ms Flounders “a cuddle” before leaving with police.

Talking about their first meeting, Johnson told police: “My new daughter was probably born, I think she asked me about that.”
In the police interview read out at Bradford Crown Court, Johnson said the pair had talked about football when he met her to give her a shirt.
“That’s all I know she’s a big fan,” he said.
“If someone contacted me and asked for a shirt I try and give them that.”

Johnson denied making a Snapchat account just for the teenager in a police interview.
“She was always Snapchatting photos of her in Sunderland shirt,” she said.
DC Kimberley Walton asked why the teen was the only contact on his new Snapchat account.
He replied: “With me having a girlfriend, it’s obviously not a very nice thing to do. She could see if I was talking to other people.
“It was mainly so my girlfriend wouldn’t be suspicious. We have had a few arguments about me texting girls.
“I have admitted I have texted people before and she wouldn’t believe me if it came up again.”

Johnson admitted to police he kissed the teenager in his car in interview.
When asked if the kiss was passionate, he said: “When you kiss someone with tongue it’s like quite passionate, you wouldn’t give your mam a kiss with tongues.”

Johnson denied that he had sexually touched the girl.
When it was suggested she had police that he had, Johnson told officers: “I feel like I can’t believe she would, I feel like someone is telling her to say these things.
“When she was with me, we were like friends and she came to all the games, she was a fan.
“I feel like someone’s told her to do this for beneficial purposes.
“She is saying that I made her touch me isn’t she?
“Obviously when we were kissing I knew it was wrong.”

DC Kimberley Walton asked the ex-Sunderland player if he was aroused when kissing the teenager, the court hears.
“I am guessing so, you get aroused when you kiss someone,” Johnson said in the interview on March 2.
He went on to say: “I knew it was wrong. I have a girlfriend for one. There’s lots of reasons. I’ve got a family, a career.
“I was upset with myself, I knew she was a fan. I knew what could be seen from me doing something like that.
“I said to myself it was poor like, I should have known better.”

DC Kimberley Walton asked Johnson why he told his girlfriend the teenager was 16 when he was arrested.
He responded: “I don’t want to lose my girlfriend over a mistake I have made. I don’t want her to take my daughter away.”
Johnson said he kept talking to the girl after the kiss as he didn’t want to make the teenager “angry”.
“She might, like, say to my girlfriend and if word gets about that she’s been kissing me and getting shirts it would be really bad.”
When asked by the interviewing officer how he felt about the situation.
The footballer replied: “Yeah, the worst day of my life.
“It started, what I was trying to do was a good deed. I feel terrible, absolutely terrible.”

So he's just a poor innocent hero trying to do a good deed for a young fan is he.

Definitely not a lying sack of **** trying to worm his way into the panties of a girl he knew full well was underage.

 

There's so many unanswered things here. Why did she delete the data AFTER going to the police? That makes no sense to me. You have no reason unless she's done or said something wrong? To me there's more evidence on johnsons side from that long post above. I'm guessing the Johnson comments are from his original arrest when he was denying all of the charges. Would make no sense for him to say that now
