people who couldn't get in the police before have no powers what so ever complete waste of time all they want is free travel I say sack the lot of them
well we had an incident over Christmas 2 specials came up hadent a clue get normal coppers in and guess what the normal coppers sorted it

The Met had a policy recently that if you hadn't done a year as a Special they wouldn't consider your application. Think they binned it though when the trainers at Hendon complained that the entire intake was ****ing useless.
They're usually about 50. Saw one of them arguing with a shoplifting gypo on Salford Precinct the other day; it was quite amusing.
I don't think so. They have to call for back up. Purely there to create the illusion of a police presence.
