I'm sure I read earlier, that this is just an issue with early iPhones, if the terrorist had been using an iPhone 6, they wouldn't need any help as the operating system is different.

He said "helping this nutter", not "helping people who worked with him".

I've got nothing incriminating on my phone - surely this is only a problem for those who have?

    You might have.

If security can be breached, what's to stop anyone planting something incriminating on your phone?

They could do that anyway - that's a different issue.

    Not sure it is.

If Apple give the FBI access to people's phones what's to stop them planting incriminating stuff if they don't find what they are looking for?

The FBI don't want access to peoples phones. Well not in this instance.

They want access to one phone.

    Which Apple could do.

They're happy for it to stay on the Apple Campus. They just want the data off it.

    Apple are being ****.

I find it astonishing anyone believes Apple are thinking of their customers.

Since 2008 Apple have unlocked 70 phones at the request of security services. Non of those cases were as high profile as this one, this is the phone of a known bad bastard who killed innocent people. I find it hard to understand people defending Apple.

**** the bed. 40% of the apps (not made by Apple) that they tested on the App Store had unconventional ways of storing data, compared to the astonishingly better 36% they tested randomly off google play.

**** me iPhones are so unsafe. I'm going to have Trojans and malware and my jealous ex is going to be spying on me by listening in through my microphone.

    Oh wait a minute..

They don't need to go all the way to Japsn, there's half a dozen places down Spring Bank that could sort it.
