Right, I think it's time to roll the dice as this has been an unmitigated disaster so far. We have reached the stage where there is nothing to lose. Kind of like being behind in the 95th minute and sending your goalie up for a corner. This is a risk with potentially disastrous results, rarely works, but what the hell you do it anyway to feel like you're doing something!!!

I am the town medical examiner - like a Quincey M.E. on steroids. I have two roles within the game. The first is one that I will continue to have now that I am making this public. The second will now be restricted in how I use it because of making this public.

The first part of my role is that I get to examine the dead bodies of people who have tried to escape in the hope I can find out clues about what is going on. The second part of my role is that I get to choose someone to protect each night from death - basically they become invincible to anything other than the lynch (escape). I will now need to use that on myself each night now that I have made known who I am. I had avoided going public before now in case any other roles became public. With the numbers the way they are though it appears to be the right time to take that chance and lose the ability to protect anybody else.

I will post my findings on each death separately so that each post doesn't become mega long. The investigations go in stages. Each bit I work out gives me the chance to investigate the next part of the mystery. If I complete the full investigation into a death then I win a bonus for the team. I partially solved the mystery on days 1 and 3. I fully solved the mystery on day 2. I did receive a reward for that, but sharing it publicly at this stage would help the mafia more than it helps us.

Prisoner 23 (First escapee)

This was a partially successful investigation.

The first escapee appeared to die from a fall from the balcony. However, the chemical we smelled in the garden turned out to be cyanide. Closer inspection of the body proved that although he had been poisoned, the does failed to kill him. His neck was marked and bruised. He was strangled and had his neck snapped. That was the cause of death. I failed to work out how the strangling took place and found out no more information.

DPP (Second Escapee)

This was a fully successful investigation

The facts we were all told.....

Closer examination of the room showed that DPP had not slept in his bed. His body was cold to the touch and he had been dead long enough for rigor mortis to set in. He had obviously been dead a long time and hadn't been killed just before we broke into the room. The wound in his chest was not as neat as it had first appeared. It hadn't been a blade that inflicted the wound. Closer examination of the wounds,a s well as the blood around the room showed that he hadn't been killed by the stabbing. This was done as a distraction. He had marks around his mouth that showed he had been smothered and killed silently. On examining the chimney I found some broken pottery pieces. One of these pieces matched exactly the wounds in the chest. I also found a handprint on the pottery. The handprint, along with the way the wound was formed showed that the person who carried out the murder was left handed.

Another important point is that the body was colder than it should have been. It was less than room temperature. There is no medical explanation for this.

That was the limit of my examination. i was there to examine the medical facts rather than to solve the murder. I suspect these facts are intended to tie in with facts that others learned (probably Bobby though, and he is dead )

Edit: I also discovered that the black marks on the rug were indeed soot from the chimney.

Valley (Third Escapee)

Partially successful investigation

I was confused by the smell of alcohol coming from the body as it didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the scene. The fact that the body was floating was also confusing. Valley should have swallowed lots of water as he panicked and struggled to stay afloat, but the body was floating and hadn't sunk. When I checked, his lungs were full of air and not water. There was no blood in the trail of mud leading from the changing rooms to the pool. In the changing rooms I found the rest of Valley's leg. It had been cut off in an attempt to make the death look like an attack by some sort of beast. I also noticed footprints from three different shoes in the changing rooms. He had been killed before he was thrown in the pool.

I failed to identify the method of his killing.

One thing I have only just noticed as I went back through this to type it up -

Why was Prisoner 21 trailing water everywhere????

It looks like these deaths are being carried out by people who are attempting to make them look stranger than they really are, and going to great lengths to deceive us as to the means of death.

Any input from the rest of you about any clues I may have missed, or what I have found out might lead to, would be greatly appreciated!!!

I haven't had the opportunity to investigate Albert's death yet.

I only investigate the deaths of the escapees, and not those killed by the dead, the acolytes or the mafia.

One other thing that became clear to me during my investigations is that the directions we head in as a group, and the locations we end up in are very important. I know that somebody else within our group (so I suspect town) is aware of the importance of these too. I wasn't told who that person is or what information they have as that is not part of my remit as the M.E. I don't know if it is somebody who is still alive or not, but if it is then they need to start speaking up when it comes to the locations.

It might be worthwhile someone with a good geographic sense trying to draw up a sort of map too from the locations we have been told about so far, to see if they can spot a pattern in where we should be heading. I get the feeling it is key to our ability to escape.

It's about a bunch of prisoners of rival factions stuck on an island (Absalom) and watched over from afar by an evil Warden. I didn't notice any obvious clues, though it did have a river, lake, waterfall, sea, hills, etc.

There might be no connection, but some things did give me some ideas.

First of all the Warden was not on the island. We have assumed that the warden is one of prisoners 1-18. It is possible that he is, but it might also be the case that MITO is the warden (or another unnamed player). If this was the case it might give us a little hope that there might be an extra townie still alive. He could have his guards on the island, but so far we have seen no evidence of guard kills (other than escapees who we choose ourselves).

That still leaves the following role as unaccounted for, unless it is being filled by a secret player we don't know anything about....

The wording of it - as sitting apart from the others - could lend weight to the warden being a player that 'sits apart from the others' and could even be a player not listed in the 18.

There is also the issue of players 19-23. These could be players controlled by the warden to prevent escape. It doesn't explain why they are being killed off (I have no idea why that might be happening) but it might be that these players are the ones killing the escapees. Perhaps when they are all dead a new option might open up to us, based on other conditions being met (location, who else is still alive, etc) that could point us towards successful escape.

There are three reasons I am wondering if prisoners 19-23 are the ones who were carrying out the killing of escapees (actually players 19-22 as 23 was killed as an escape and may have been a construct of the game to give us a starting point for investigations and clues).

1. Prisoner 21 was dripping with water when he came to tell us about finding Valley's body. Why was he wet? Why had he been in the pool?
2. There were three sets of footprints in the changing area. This could have been prisoners 19, 20 & 21 as 22 was already dead.
3. Each investigation I have to make choices based on clues. One of the options I didn't choose (because I thought there was a better option to explore) was to examine the body of prisoner 21. I am now wondering if my examination of him would have shown me that he is left handed.

I am not convinced any of this is actually the case, but thought it was worth putting it out there. I also am not sure what we do with this information if it is correct. We don't have any actions that could stop them.

Going against this theory is Valley's statement that he had to kill the Warden and the guards. Unless there are tasks to fulfil that would allow us to kill them, then that statement would lead us to think that the warden and guards need to be among players 1-18.

Another fly in the ointment about the guards - Valley said he needed to kill the warden and his guards (plural). MITO's note on recruitment said we had killed the guards. Was Chaos the only one? Was he the player who sat apart and had his own win conditions?

It could be the case that we have already lost the players we need to nensure we can escape. However, I am sure MITO would have built in options for us still to succeed if key players were killed off early. I can't see us having a game where it is impossible to win from early in the game if the wrong players die, only going through the motions until everyone is dead.

MITO said last night that solving the mystery of the escapee killings is vital to our chances of success...

I think there are four key things we need to do immediately to stand any chance of rescuing this game:

1. Solve the mystery of the escapee deaths and work out how they relate to oyr chances of success.
2. Work out why locations and directions are key to the game and our chances of escape.
3. As a bare minimum, make sure that we lynch one of the acolyte team tonight (if any of the above is true we might just be looking for acolytes - and possibly a recruited guard)
4. Challenge any notions we have about town reads so far. We have killed off all of the 'suspicious' players (all bat DPP, Chaos and ACS were innocent). It is almost certain that at least one of our strong town reads is a bad guy playing well. There is also the possibility of recruitment to take into account which also makes town reads dangerous.

Why were their prisoner numbers cut from their jumpsuits? Bearing in mind the ritualistic nature of these killings I think this could be very significant. Do these players go to an alternative dead team? I have no way of investigating this, so its over to you lot to speculate....

Investigation Of The Death Of ACS (Fourth Escapee)

I examined the body closer and was immediately drawn to the sagging neck. It seemed unusual that it was sagging so badly. On closer inspection I realised that his neck had been snapped and that this was the cause of death. The crucifixion was another smokescreen to hide the real cause of another death - another neck injury. I also noticed that although we had noticed a small bruise on his left cheek, the right side of his face shows signs of swelling. He had been struck by a left handed assailant.

At this stage I ignored the injuries caused by the left handed assailant as this seemed likely to cover old ground. Instead I examined why his shirt was inside out. On lifting his shirt I saw a very rough and fresh looking tattoo. It had obviously been inked onto the body since we arrived on the island. It was a tattoo of a decapitated skeleton, with the skull having it's mouth stuffed with something (matching the ceremonial killings).

There were also inked onto his chest the numbers of each prisoner. Each dead prisoner had his number scored out, as if ACS had been following the killings and recording them. Interestingly, none of last night's killings were recorded. This tells us that ACS did not witness these deaths and was killed before they took place, confirming that other Acolytes/Cult members exist. It was also interesting that the number 7 had been repeatedly scrubbed through with ink. Prisoner 7 was DPP. I didn't learn why this had been done though.

Most interestingly, the numbers tattooed onto his chest were missing one player. Player 17 was not marked onto the tattoo. Every player, from 1-23 is marked in the list of potential kills apart from player 17. His number is missing - obviously never intended for killing. When I finish looking at the tattoo I quickly pull the shirt back down. I then turned around and saw player 17 standing watching me examine the body of ACS.

Player 17 is linked to the acolytes. The lack of his number on the list leads me to conclude that he is the head of this group.

To be honest, I have very little else to go on. I think it's important that before nightfall townies start doing a lot more to reveal themselves as town so that we're not back to square one tomorrow! (apart from actually being back at square one in the hotel )

Win conditions are:

The "Mafia" win when they are majority team left in game and no escape is possible or it is inevitable this will occur

The "Town" wins when all bad guys are wiped out and if they escape or it is inevitable both will occur.

Other roles may win the game also. Their win conditions are hidden.

The directions have nothing to do with the win conditions. Like in all other mafia games we've played, to win, we must eliminate the bad guys!

If that is the case then even when Tennis is shown to be linked to the Acolytes then I cannot be trusted tomorrow as I would be the obvious person to recruit as they will know I'd be trusted as a 100% town. So basically, don't trust me tomorrow without thinking through and checking everything I say

Ok, I've read rough your posts Nev, the first handful suggest that 19-23 were involved in the killings of escapees, 19 is the last one so after tonight does that mean there is no-one to kill us if we try to escape? Probably not but I'm pretty sure 19 will die tonight to follow the pattern.

You've covered that stuff pretty well with your own analysis and I can't really see anything new.

However reading through the ACS bit I have had a thought. The acolytes themselves had numbers assigned for them to be possible kills as only Tennis is not assigned to die. It says there are deep lines crossing out DPP, did they need there players to be lynched? Have we helped the, by killing DPP and ACS? It's a bit "outside the box" lol

The answer is that I genuinely don't know the significance of DPP's number being repeatedly smudged out. There were two possible conclusions in my thinking.

Either he has been re-animated from the dead, or he is something beyond dead. Just guesses though!

The numbers though are there for the acolytes to choose as kills though so would make sense for it to be significant to them, so I wonder if the acolyte team needed to have there own team lynched, maybe so that they join the dead team? They are ritualistic and may have to work with the dead.

Thinking about it we managed to lynch two of the acolytes without much resistance... And Tennis voted two days running to kill ACS.....

Oh ****... Starting to think I might actually be right....
