Hard Boiled was cool in the 90s , dunno how it stands up today tho. The Raid was enjoyable , i dont really go for that type of movie n one of the main characters in that also made a brief appearance in Starwars
Good film, haven't seen it in a while, might have to rewatch it. The Raid 2 is much better. I'll definitely be watching that at some point. Think I'll watch a load of my personal favourite ever director, Akira Kurosawa, first.
It takes a bit of getting your head round at first - its a film of both fantasy and grim reality - but it's worth sticking with.
Lol yeah but I struggle with subtitles Red, I don't need glasses for watching telly but I do for reading subtitles, so it kinda kills it for me.
Gonna do what I just did for Coen Brothers, but gonna do it for my fave director Akira Kurosawa. 14 days, 14 films. (Probably not consecutive, will likely have a few days off in between, but in this order) Day 1: Drunken Angel Day 2: Stray Dog Day 3: Rashomon Day 4: The Idiot Day 5: Ikiru Day 6: Seven Samurai Day 7: Throne of Blood Day 8: The Hidden Fortress Day 9: Yojimbo Day 10: Sanjuro Day 11: High and Low Day 12: Red Beard Day 13: Kagemusha Day 14: Ran
Thanks. Just googled it and now think I must have seen it. Didn't realise it was Kurosawa. Is there any other film version of The Idiot you would recommend? I think I have seen an eastern European version too. Surprising there doesn't seem to be a good western version. Considering it's the worlds greatest novel (imo) and how many versions of Crime and Punishment have been made.
The only other version I can think of is the Soviet version from the 50s which you are likely speaking of, by Ivan Pyryev.
I know what you mean and it is a pain. It's worth watching for the pictures alone though. Reading the subs can distract so much from the film. Quill... Thanks I think I might re watch both.
Chef is a fab film....Burnt up there with it....ignore bad reviews ...each to their own i say....stay away from rotten tomatoes...only 90+pc films on there worth watching foreign Iranian documentarys nowadays
Has there ever been a TV version of it, to my knowledge I can't think of any? I read the book years ago
I know your pain, but have developed an(individual,of course)head swivelling technique that generally works well, although I feel like a twat..Maybe you can work something out for yourself. There are some great sub-titled films out there and it would be a shame if you missed out on some fantastic cinematography.
