Your stats would only serve to reinforce the point being made rather than disprove it. I.e that Ronaldo, though undoubtedly a great player, is more interested in personal glory than in being a team player.
I do dislike him, tbh, but not so much from the fact that he was once a Utd player, rather the fact that being so far up your own arse is an unappealing trait in any person.
I disliked him at Utd for the character he showed, not because of who he was playing for.

Messi's goals and assists for Barca since Ronaldo signed for Real have been more decisive and lead to more silverware.

That's all that matters in the big picture between Spain's big two.

Sorry but the facts don't back up that nonsense.

Over the last 4 seasons Messi has only made 10 more assists than Ronaldo, but scored 24 less goals.

Ronaldo has a massive ego but trying to make out that he's made less of a contribution to his team by having the temerity to score sack fulls of goals is absolute tripe.

Assists don't really show half of what Messi does on a field though...he might not have the last pass but in the way barca have set up it's very often something he has done in the build up.

Again...philosophy of messi playing for the team rather than team playing for Ronaldo.

One has clearly got more out than the other in terms of silverwear.

Perhaps you're right. I'm not a fan of stats and certainly don't go collecting them.
In this case I'm judging Ronaldo on his personality and I just find his pomposity absurd. He's not alone of course- so many footballers make me laugh with their warrior poses because they've managed to kick a ball into a net and the wounded hero act when they get a knock.
    It's pathetic.
Ronaldo is just a paradigm of all those things I dislike about modern players.
Great footballer, but a massive tit.

So ignoring the actual facts you mean....gotcha <ok>

That's like saying Suarez wasn't the best player in the PL the year you won **** all.

No argument from me to a point.

He's a massive ego - no doubt. But he's also a great footballer, and a terrific athlete. He's looked after himself and worked hard at his game throughout his career and he deserves respect for that imo.

I didnt ignore facts..i said statistics don't tell you everything.

And I didn't say Ronaldo wasn't Reals best player and largely responsible for the trophies theyve won.

I said they would have won more like or instead of Barca if he played like it was the Real show not the Ronaldo show.

and tobes how many games in these 4 seasons has ronaldo played over and above messi... more than 24 you'll find.

messi is the world's greatest EVER.

ronaldo is a functional player. he's tehcnially excellent but he's not got the touch of genius.

I've never seem him really beat 5 guys for fun or do outrageously off the cuff stuff.. he strikes the ball so cleanly. every touch is good but he's a brylcreem robot.. .loved by nobody but mancs.

    ...............

I'm glad we got SOME traction of of these despite the mancs hiding in their holes... you'd swear van gall kidnapped them all or something.

Ronaldo is the ultimate pantomime villain, he revels in it. He thrives off the hate, don't make any mistake about that.

Ronaldo's a great, great player but he's a machine. Technically, with the ball at his feet he's not as good as Messi, nevertheless throughout his career he's still better than everyone else who's played the game.

I'm not going to knock Messi, somehow there's some stupidness that you need to pick one or the other rather than appreciate both. Ridiculous. The only thing I'd question about Messi, he's spent his whole career at Barcelona playing a partiular culture of football surrounded by arguably the best in the world... from the days of Ronaldhino and Etoo to Iniesta, Xavi, Villa to the current Neymar and Suarez.

Instead I'd ask people to consider how each would have fared if they'd had the other's career. Imagine Ronaldo had been the Barca player over the last decade and Messi had, had to replicate his success at United and then Real Madrid with the players they had. I'd question either would have done what the other has achieved <ok>

so gald at least one manc has not self harmed.

As i said yes.. a machine.

a robot.. tehcicnally perfect every time but... no inspiration.

I reckon you are dead right though ronaldo had to ENDURE life with an alcoholic manager and a shrek headed ginger granny basher of a team mate... the guy is a saint.. cos clearly messi always had great players round him while <whistle> Ronaldo had no great players with him at utd.

    thanks for clearing this up.

Thats a fair point...Would Messi be as good elsewhere. Always a question to ask of a one club player but then..

Do you think Ronaldo would have moved from either Barca or Real if he had got there first?
