East riding council have just spent £2,500. on a new set of chains for one of the leaders ( Consett) whatever that means. They had a ballot in Brough,Elloughton to approve this. They overwhelmingly voted against it but it was ignored and they went ahead with the taxpayers money and bought them. After HCC getting a bashing this week ( rightly so ) what do you reckon??
I was busy with a customer. I give as much leeway as possible with local interest stuff, but it's useful to at least keep it accurate, it's absolutely **** all to do with EYRCC. It's a decision by Elloughton-cum-Brough town council and if the residents of Elloughton and Brough aren't happy with their money being spent like this, they can get rid of them.
I don't live in Hull or the ER, and have no idea on the facts of this at all. Anyone in political office of any type? They're all ****s.
Elloughton/Brough is a growing Town with a similar population to Driffield and has the largest Enterprise Park in the East Riding, its size makes it entirely appropriate for it to have a Town Mayor with chains of office and the rates easily generate enough finance to pay for them. Why are they complaining? If they want village status move out of Brough New Town into a village?
Because it was voted against and ignored. For the benefit of one of their fiances apparently feeling left out with no chains.
It they'd voted against it, it obviously wouldn't be happening... At a meeting of Elloughton-cum-Brough Town Council held on 17 November 2015 Members agreed by the majority that in principle they are in favour of the Town Council having a Chain of Office because, in the Council’s view, it will raise the profile of Elloughton-cum-Brough within the East Riding. The cost is circa £4,000. The Council agreed to seek resident’s views via the next issue of the Petuaria Press which will be delivered to every household in January 2016.
Tubbylard's post regarding the actions of HCC was no more political than that one. Maybe criticism of some is more acceptable thn criticism of others?
Old news ... someone has privately 'gifted / covered' the cost of the chains - so no cost to public ...
I wouldn't let that stop you, others don't seem to see accurate facts being an issue. Just cut and paste off twitter.
