Off Topic Mafia game: The island

What do people think about direction.

Hills don't sound enticing at all. We've been to the Lake and we've been to the Hotel.

Can't see the point in going straight back to Lake and would suggest Hotel as we could have been investigating rooms possibly for what I haven't a clue but there could be clues to be found. Think it was a view that we didn't pick right on the first night.

 

I think we definitely have at least 3 teams plus town - mafia, acolytes, dead - possibly a team of guards too. If true then our numbers are seriously scary!!

 

I don't think it's a killing role, I think maybe it's a role that needs us to go a certain route? Or complete a certain action? With all the choices to be made in this game it would make sense to have someone who's task it was to be effecting that outcome. No idea though, this game has been quite a variant on the normal games so it could be any role tbh!

 

We were all fairly confident we had made the right choice about location going to the lake. Was there a clue in the location description? The lake that leads to a jungle? There was a path through the jungle that could be followed. It didn't sound very enticing to me, but maybe the clue about a path was important?

 

Can I just say at this point that I don't have a town read on ANYBODY. I think others should do the same and assume that any of us could be bad guys.

We need to get back to basics.

I'm feeling like we may not have the best grasp of what is happening!

I'm going to re-read all the direction options over the first few days and see if we've missed anything.

 

We didnt get the choice to further investigate the hotel...we were moved to the gazebo in the hotel and then presented with 3 (non hotel) choices

So going back to the hotel would seem to be a wasted move to me..ie nowt more to learn there...its valid as a reset the map move ..but that would just use a day and not get us closer to escape route

who is pushing for Hotel move?

 

You are my only good ish town read as you presented a wealth of detailed role info...but that is tempered by you being a duplicitous bastard.... its a moral dilemma

 

• The "Mafia" win when they are majority team left in game and no escape is possible or it is inevitable this will occur
• The "Town" wins when all bad guys are wiped out and if they escape or it is inevitable both will occur.
• Other roles may win the game also. Their win conditions are hidden.

I think the "mafia" are the acolytes and the warden/guards are the "others". It depends on how the real escape (not the lynch deaths) works. I don't think the warden/guards needs to have greater numbers if escape is impossible and acolytes are dead.

On the clues from Neville, I'm #worried that without the detective information they might be worthless. @Less Hope Than Neville did you get any information about game mechanics too that suggest you need or don't need the detective? For the first night did you try asking if the shoelace killed the guy? How does the investigation procedure actually work?

For the direction, I think lake means we then have the same options as before (neutral). Mountains = jungle = hills = just getting lost and coming back with some punishment (bad/death). Going back to the hotel, perhaps we do the investigation we should have done the first night.

Or perhaps being at the hotel there means no bubble death for going too far away. The bubble kills have all been the #fake players, but perhaps if they don't die they lead to some clue about how they are faking the deaths as monsters, although that hasn't been consistent anyway.

For the vote, I don't know. I can imagine RHC ignoring his role as acolyte cult leader, hence their low activity until last night.

 

I am town - but I would say that whether I am or not.

One thing that is interesting to me is that nobody seems willing or able to use any of that detailed information. Some people who have played this game well don't seem to want us to focus on that information.

 

There is a lot of info but I'm not sure I can see anything that is of much use to us amongst it? It all feels a little bit unfinished!

 

I haven't been told how my role fits in with anybody else's, but like you I suspect the detective would have found some of my info helpful to tie things together. However, I don't think any mafia game will not allow for he possibility of important players dying and not having the game become meaningless. There will be other ways to find out the info that would have been available to the detective.

I didn't get a chance to ask about the shoelace. The investigations are more of a path. If I take the wrong turn then the investigation finishes.

 

It is unfinished. That is why I posted it. It needs further investigation and discussion. We have been told that the clues to escapee deaths are critical to our chances of escape. We should be trying to examine the info closely and see what we can see.

 

I took going back to the Hotel as being able to go upstairs or downstairs as per night 1.

Can't say the Hills look an option -"You see nothing but mountains around you.."

Lake - only route would be into the jungle as

Follow the waterfall to the west - we are there now

Follow the river to the east." - river to sea? Are we in position to escape if we get to sea? What have we "discovered?

Hotel and rooms suggests clues to me. Not against going back to Lake but does that not just waste a day as well?

 

I think we should all post our thoughts on the location choices we have/have had and what we think they might mean. Some people might have been given clues as to what the locations mean, and even if they didn't understand them then they can drop those clues into their theories without giving anything away - allowing others to maybe see if they can make more sense of those clues. Nothing to lose at this stage.

 

Hotel would be a valid choice ..IF..we got the chance to re investigate rooms...but the way we were forced to choose a direction outside of the hotel on the 2nd day ...indicates, to me, that isnt an option we would have presented to us if we went back to the hotel ..it would/should have been an option from the gazebo

Agree re lake = day waste too (at this moment...hopefully an analytical type is studying the map of move choices and could argue why a lake/hotel move would be good)

If I've got it right then going to the lake or hotel is on route to the sea (via the lake the sea is the only worthwhile option we can end up at) but the hotel would also give us the chance to possibly search upstairs or downstairs which we didn't do before? I feel like the hotel probably gives us more options...the issue being we don't actually know where we need to be heading. I feel like we are missing something with the directions but I can't figure out what, there must be some kind of clue as to where we are supposed to go. If it turns out being as simple as going to the sea, after we get the "number 6 looking at the shoreline" clue right at the start, I shall be pissed lol
