    I played rugby too as well as football. Difference was you didn't really respect the ref but did respect your captain. I got our team sent back 10 yards once. I never did it again!

    I think I read somewhere that as regards Rugby it is written in the rules of the game that players must not shown dissent to the referee. Is that right?

    All players must respect the authority of the referee. They must not dispute the referee’s decisions. They must stop playing at once when the referee blows the whistle except at a kick-off or at a penalty kick following admonishment, temporary suspension, or send-off.

    Or perhaps if you read the comments back, I already mentioned players can't challenge refs in rugby?

    You referred to the way rugby officials run the game, That's different to the actual rules of the game.

    I think that its just people are trying to try as much as possible because its a performance/ results based industry
