Good article. Still, I'm not sure I'd agree that Gabbidon is far better than Gorkks.

IMO Gorkks had one or two off days for us last season but generally he has been excellent since we signed him. My question would be: who is going to partner him?

Connolly had some dreadful lapses last season. Last season, when he wasn't on the treatment table, Hall was much better than in 2009/10 but that didn't take much. It hurts me to say that S****u is now too big and too slow for the Championship, let alone the Prem. Ramage look good when he played a couple of games at CB at the end of the 2009/10 season, I think it was. Hill's lack of pace would probably less exposed at CB: he was one of our stars last season and he has so much going for him. It'll be interesting to see who nails down those CB places and, whilst I am a little underwhelmed by the signing, Gabbidon must be in with a shout. If fit.

If hes fit and seems like Warnock has liked what he saw in him, then could be a solid player.More pace than Gorkss and Connolly. What is much more of an issue is the full back positions.Orr and Hill are going to get a very hard time. Hill is not really a CB and I think he got away with it in the CCC,but could be a big shock against Lennon,Walcott,Anelka, etc. We desperately need 2 pacy ful backs that will over lap,Orr and Hill will never overlap in the prem or get forward...much to slow.

Anyway, hoping these positions are addresed over the next few weeks?

Another body in the squad. But again, he's another one that I don't see as any better than we already have. Having said that, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be proved wrong.

When are we changing our name to Ex West Ham crocks XI?

Enough of that, I'm determined to be positive today, I would say the sun is shining, but it isn't!

In answer to the title of this thread, I do perceive a change of tack from the owners. They've seen the prospect of cashing in on Taraabt and selling the club for £100 million crumble because no wealthy potential purchaser is that stupid. So they probably have reached an agreement with NW, that in return for him tempering his comments about no money, the owners will give him a bit more financial support.

Of course, there is an outside chance that this mythical Russian that CernyBerny predicts will take over the club on Thursday, is pulling the strings behind the Goons - we'll know on Friday...

I used to be an admirer of Mr Whiitingham but I'm making it a rule to ignore the opinion of any article than contains the phrase "Rob Hulse hasn’t exactly set the world alight". Hulse didn't even rub the sticks together let alone get a spark. The fact that he started so many games last autumn when he clearly wasn't up to it is the biggest dent in NW's record with QPR and worries me that he is apt to stand by his new intake even when it is hurting the team. Less concern with Gabbidon and Dyer of course as they are unlikely to stay fit anyway.

Agree with you QPAAAAAGH. Blind reliance on Hulse seemed to be an Achillies heel for NW. Took NW sometime to see what the rest of us had been saying for months. May be Hulse performed brilliantly in training and left his brains in the dressing room on match days.
