Well the series is about #6 (I am not a number, I am a free man) and his escape...so protect is the obvious choice ..ie he is the one who HAS to escape (but in game terms..the game would collapse if ACS/#6 got lynched on the 1st night, for example, and protect/kill were the 'only win' conditions)

that said... its not fully the 'prisoner' ...more themetically linked/based ..as you say

    From wiki;

The series follows an unnamed British agent (played by Patrick McGoohan) who, after abruptly and angrily resigning his job, apparently prepares to make a hurried departure from the country. While packing his luggage, he is rendered unconscious by knockout gas in his flat. When he awakes, he finds himself held captive in a mysterious seaside "village" that is isolated from the mainland by mountains and sea. The Village is further secured by numerous monitoring systems and security forces, including a sinister balloon-like device called Rover that recaptures – or kills – those who attempt escape. The agent encounters the Village's population: hundreds of people from all walks of life and cultures, all seeming to be tranquilly living out their lives. They do not use names but instead are assigned numbers, which give no clue as to any person's status (prisoner or warder). Potential escapees therefore have no idea whom they can and cannot trust. The protagonist is assigned Number Six, but he repeatedly refuses the pretense of his new identity.[citation needed]

Number Six is monitored heavily by Number Two, the Village administrator acting as an agent for an unseen "Number One". A variety of techniques are used by Number Two to try to extract information from Number Six, includinghallucinogenic drug experiences, identity theft, mind control, dream manipulation, and various forms of socialindoctrination. All of these are employed not only to find out why Number Six resigned as an agent, but also to extract other purportedly dangerous information he gained as a spy. The position of Number Two is filled in on a rotating basis: in some cases, this is part of a larger plan to confuse Number Six; at other times, it seems to be a result of failure in interrogating Number Six.[citation needed]

Alone, he struggles with various goals: determining for which side of the iron curtain the Village works if, indeed, it works for any at all, remaining defiant to its imposed authority, concocting his own plans for escape, learning all he can about the Village, and subverting its operation. His schemes lead to the dismissals of the incumbent Number Two on two occasions, although he never escapes. By the end of the series, the administration, becoming desperate for Number Six's knowledge and fearful of his growing influence in the Village, takes drastic measures that threaten the lives of Number Six, Number Two, and the rest of the Village.[citation needed]

A major theme of the series is individualism, as represented by Number Six, versus collectivism, as represented by Number Two and the others in the Village. McGoohan stated that the series aimed to demonstrate a balance between the two points.[6]

OK finally caught up. We're flying a bit blind here as we're supposed to but I'll post my thoughts below.

Good to see some other posters coming up with their own theories, Astro is doing a great job and a bunch of others adding value as well.
Then as usual there are a few guys arguing but that's always the case when people get defensive after being voted for. <laugh>
I actually think Chaos is being more constructive today, whereas yesterday he was more of a hindrance...

    My opinion: Night 1 actions
Some interesting theories regarding vampires etc. I'm not discounting them as I'm not much of a film buff so don't know that much, however my initial view was as follows:

    Voices:
Two voices: one deep booming voice and another "higher voice of uncertain ethnic origin, shrill almost". You "think you hear two voices from within the suite, then silence".
I would guess the deep voice is DPP's as he's a guy, and the higher voice was the killer. Especially as it's of unknown ethnicity, that can't relate to DPP as his ethnicity would be obvious. It also implies that the killing happened soon before we broke down the door.
Killer would then either be a lady or a high-pitched male voice, or some non-human creature.

    Killer size and escape method:
I would suggest that the killer is a fair bit smaller than DPP (and presumable smaller than a standard sized male) due partly to the higher pitched voice (not conclusive method though) and ESPECIALLY because I believe the killer entered and escaped via the chimney. We know there doesn't seem like an obvious way to enter and escape the room, and the killer escaped soon before we all entered.
I propose that the killer was small and entered via the chimney so would have some soot on them when entering the room. This would explain the black flecks on the rug. The killer then had to escape via the chimney again, but because we would be entering soon they jammed DPP's body in the chimney to block it. So it was not really to dispose the body but to block off the possibility of someone seeing them escape or grabbing their legs etc. It might also hide the fact that they entered via the chimney. We also know the killer has black hair unless the killer planted it the evidence.

    Blood in bathroom
No one has mentioned this, why was there a blood smear in the bathroom? Presumably the lamp was broken during the struggle, and so the killer got blood on them either directly from the broken lamp or got DPP's blood on them. Now the struggle happened in the room away from the bathroom, so the killer must have gone to the bathroom after the killing. They were obviously in a rush as we would be entering soon, so I can only think they rushed into the bathroom to steal something (what?) or to quickly wash their hands of blood (however they'd be covered in soot so you're still gonna look guilty).

    IFWT kill
I agree with a few of the others that it seems to be a mafia type kill due to the baseball bat. Mito said the roles will mostly be similar to the standard ones so I doubt it was a Vigilante or SK kill (if those roles exist), it sounds a lot like a mafia kill which in this case we assume are the main group of bad guys.
I agree that we need to figure out why IFWT was targeted. He is a good player but there may be something more than that, like if he was obviously suspicious of someone.

    DPP role
Acolyte is a strange one, we don't know exactly what his allegiance is. I agree with Neville that as it's a ceremonial role it may be a third team that we don't know about. It reminds me of that game we had with the cults and each cult had a high priest, so maybe it's something like that? We'll know more once further roles are revealed.

I initially wanted to suggest going North so we get a good view of the surroundings and then make a choice based on that.

However based on Mito's comment about "You think back over what you've learned so far, trying to decide which way to go." I agree with some of the other guys that East seems like a good idea as that's the only one that links on multiple points with previous clues we have. I can't think of prior clues that link up with mountains or the lake/jungle.

Other possible themes ..with reference to Tennis' post Squeeky voice/chimney is only access point (and as alternative to vampire concept)

Island of Dr Moreau + Prisoner:

The Island of Doctor Moreauis an 1896 science fiction novel byH. G. Wells, who called it "an exercise in youthful blasphemy". The text of the novel is the narration of Edward Prendick, a shipwrecked man rescued by a passing boat who is left on the island home of Doctor Moreau, who creates human-like hybrid beings from animals via vivisection. The novel deals with a number of philosophical themes, including pain and cruelty, moral responsibility, human identity, and human interference with nature

(just throwing this out there as fuel for thought)

Given that No.6 is going to operate against the collective, then we should be wary of the choices made by AFC.

Yesterday he went for downstairs as his task might have been to lure the village into a trap that saw more of them wiped out.

My guess is that he's in a team of 1 i.e. him.

& he has his own set of parameters set out for how he wins.

I think we shouldnt fall into the trap of thinking this is exactly like any tv programme if im honest as we might miss clues and be led down the wrong road like children in mary poppins.

Im still convinced theres evil spirits/ ghosts involved simply because of the voices and the presence of an acolyte whether he was good or bad.

Oh, forgot to vote for lynch/escape.

Going to stick a vote on Tobes to see if there's any reaction based on the voting last night.

Must say I don't think Tobes is hugely suspicious as he gave a decent defense of his actions, however there's little to go on at this stage with so many quiet people and I voted for a quiet one yesterday. So the tenuous link between Tobes and either Chaos or Bod seems like a likely avenue to check out.

EDIT: Changed vote after this to ACS (below)

Didn't realise Tobes and Chaos were on 2 votes each, last vote I saw had Chaos in the lead.

In that case I'll change my vote to ACS as he's much quieter than usual and yet hasn't missed a lynch vote yet, so seems to be following the game just being a lot more quiet than usual. Sure this will get a reaction <laugh>

Don't want someone too far out in the vote lead at this stage, let's see people put their suspects out there with decent reasoning.
