I'm in India so missing recent games but found out Bernard Mendy is playing for the local team were I'm staying, Chennai
On 12 January 2016, Mendy signed to play for the I-League side East Bengal in the 2015-16 season.[10]
I was there myself, he changed the game when he came on (he did come off the bench didnt he?). Just to be clear I didnt say he was ****, I said he was funny to watch. And I stand by that.
I thought, at times, he was brilliant going forward and certainly a game changer, I also think he was a luxury that a team like ours couldn't afford - ''backs to the wall defending'' wasn't in his bag-of-tricks!
"A towering presence at the heart of Hero ISL 2015 champions Chennaiyin FC’s defence, Bernard Mendy has joined East Bengal for the ongoing Hero I-League. The Kolkata club confirmed the signing of the former 34-year-old France international on Thursday. The veteran centre-back, who was a picture of calmness for the Super Machans throughout Season 2 of the Hero ISL, promises to be a stellar acquisition for the Red and Gold Brigade. A leader at the back for the southern-outfit in the ISL, Mendy completed 34 tackles, 22 interceptions, 17 blocks and a staggering 71 clearances and played an important role in Chennaiyin FC’s journey to the title last month. Adjudged the Hero of the Match on numerous occasions over the course of the second season, Mendy is more than capable with the ball at his feet as his 87% passing accuracy suggests. He also shares the distinction of being Hero ISL’s top-scoring defender with three goals along with Gregory Arnolin of FC Goa. Mendy’s signing is a major coup for East Bengal who kick-started their I-League campaign with a 3-1 away win against Sporting Clube de Goa on January 10" He sounds a world beater!!!!.
I remember at Old Trafford he caused them all sorts of problems. You've got to go and see him if they're playing whilst you're over. Have you managed to avoid Delhi Belly?
Yes. His running made me laugh but not as much as his defending. He blew hot n cold for sure but gave us some good moments.
i remember he had a flash of brilliant against Liverpool too , if only he could have kept the ball on a rope shorter than 12ft . I loved Bendy just because he looked so different in that team.
