I keep reading the thread title as Aigburth vs Liverpool and thinking we might have a chance.

I think they could do with it personally. I think by mid/end march for example can will be just about done for the season. firmino is rock solid injury wise but we have to get the best out of him later on too.

This is after all a german side that klopp should know full well how to play.... ok maybe firmino and can might too...

League is essentially over now. Cups should be primary focus as they're our only chance of achieving anything this season.

Unless Lovern is fit enough to return, which I doubt he will be.. then play the same team that played against Villa.
Granted, Studge and Ford need to be managed but they also need minutes in their legs and need to build up more chemistry with Firmino as part of the three.
If we can get an away win then, as others have said, we'd have the option to rest some key starters for the Capital One Final..

    Fifth is well within reach.

Players don't need a "long rest". They need to be match fit.

  8. Players can be over 21 and still qualify as a u21 player. All depends on dob

do you not want us to do well in the league then?

name me a club that has played europe this season that hasn't failed in their domestic league.

    valencia - struggling
    sevilla and valencia - struggling
    birmingham/hull/wigan - relegated
    marseille and lyon - struggling
monaco were struggling, since they exited in group stage, funnily enough, they put a string of results together in league
    lazio and fiorentina - struggling
    augsburg & schalke - struggling

its a fact that the EL completely destroys you, unless you have fitness capabilites the level of spurs.

only other club that are coping well are dortmund, but they have the quality in depth and don't suffer injuries and bar vertonghen lately, spurs too never suffered any injuries

  12. Do you not want us to do well in Europe or sign quality players?

If we don't take part in EL but do well in the league, we'll get destroyed in the CL because we have a **** coefficient rating.

EL wasn't a bad thing for teams like Seville and Monaco before they started qualifying for the CL.

i'd just rather we quality for CL or have a europa free season and focus on league, a bit like 13/14....a proper season to enjoy

if you offer quality players the money, they'll join... hence texeira/ramires moving to china

  14. So you want us to be a Man City or Chelsea then

A club like liverpool should be looking to play in Europe every season.

I take it you won't be celebrating if we somehow win the EL? Just like you won't be celebrating should we beat Man City in the League Cup final?

why would that be an easy win
we beat Bournemouth 1-0 with a goal which should have been disallowed
against WBA 2-2 with very late equaliser and both them at home.

Could have been in reach if we got a quality striker in the Jan window. I can't see it being feasible now unless somehow Sturridge can stay fit for several games in a row.

Fortunately not everyone thinks that way. Players owe it to themselves- never mind the fans- to do the best they can in every competition they're in.
I don't want to see a team that gives up when things get tough, thanks very much. <ok>

I personally think the Europa is a good competition and it could be a little better if they get rid of the champions league drop outs. Winning it is a massive achievement and gets you a champions league place, whats not to like

Fifth? We're only three points adrift with twelve games to go. Far too soon to give up.
