dunno, Heidfeld is normally quite solid, petrov is the weaker link, yesterday was quite typical of Heidfelds luck, I think Senna really missed his chance when Rubens decided to resign for Brawn, just think of the legend he could've written for himself if he'd driven that?!?! but if Chandhok can get on the grid this season then Senna defo deserves to, he was far better in my eyes than chandhok was in the HRT.

Heidfeld is reliable but no where near the quality of Kubica. If Kubica is still not fit for next year I would want to see Senna or someone like Ricciardo maybe. Both young and hungry to do well.

I think it's very possible that Nick Heidfeld could be replaced, but should only happen if they replacement is better. Nick Heidfeld may struggle in qualifying but he's strong in the races and (even with bad luck) he's beating his teammate and he's not too far from Nico Rosberg (in a faster Mercedes).

I'm pretty sure that the Friday drive given to Senna is a way of assessing him to see if he's good enough to replace Heidfeld. Given the lack of experience Senna has with the R31, I wouldn't expect him to do anything special. Maybe Boullier is tempted by the prospect of Senna in a Lotus.

There's an article about Heidfeld's time at Lotus Renault here:

I seem to remember Senna was beaten by Yamamoto on occasions in the Hispania last year. Anyone with that 'honour' doesn't seem to be ready to drive for Renault. Besides Heidfeld is ahead of Petrov in the championship so what's the problem?

HRT said that the car Senna was driving was far slower than the one Yamamoto was driving.

I dont think Grosjean is good enough. but I could be proven wrong. Renault are not technically speaking Renault anymore so we wouldnt be pushed into having a Renault Protege in the car unless the team is tight for cash and trying to keep the engine deal =/

They should leave nick in the car, and wait for Bob to recover. Forget Senna, he's missed his opportunity now.

In terms of pure driving, I would stick to Heidfeld over Senna B. No contest.

Heidfeld, like Rosberg, is a good solid driver who generally stays out of trouble and delivers.
Conversely, Senna is inconsistent, not particularly quick and rather error prone.

The big difference is that Heidfeld has never justified his seat due to money brought to a team, which is the very opposite with Senna (B version).

That is a harsh judgement to have after he had only one season in a HRT, especially that to my mind he only made one noticeable mistake in his entire rookie season while outpacing all his team mates.

As far as I know Senna is not bringing in any money for Renault. There was a report out about a month ago that Boullier was looking for sponsorship for Senna. I am also pretty sure that he was also not bringing in massive money for HRT unlike Chandhok and Yamamoto.

    What opportunity?

People look at his name and its miricles or bust. Nobody could have got that hispania higher than 22nd (which senna did occasionally).

He brings money and sponsorship from banco cruzeiro etc. etc. He was beaten by yamamoto on occasion, and i'm sorry, that means he isn't good enough.

When was he ever beaten by Yamamoto? I think he was outqualified once by him at Korea when Yamamoto put a weirdly good lap in that was almost quicker than a Virgin also, apart from that Senna destroyed him.

I'm sure that yamamoto beat him a couple of times. Look, it's obvious you're a fan of the senna's, and i respect your opinion on that, but i'm just stating a fact. Bruno Senna is not good enough for formula 1. I hope i'm wrong, he seems a really nice bloke, but from what i saw last year, he isn't at the level required to be competitive. He was beaten by chandhok on occasion, and we saw yesterday that chandhok also lacks ability.

    Interesting.
I know my memory isn't what it used to be but I have been left with a very different impression. I am not one to go trolling through the evidence but I remember on many occasions after he arrived on the F1 scene, that I was less than impressed by Senna B during his time with HRT. As far as I remember, he was not paired against a top driver at any stage, and at no point did he even threaten to dominate a team mate. Perhaps this is the result of a distorted bias, but I do my best to make an objective assessment before committing myself to the permanent language of an internet forum.

I will be happy to be corrected if my memory really is as poor as you suggest, Mifune.

Yamamoto did not beat Senna once, fact. Senna outqualified Chandhok 6-3 and would of slaughtered him in race head to heads if he had not suffered atrocious reliabilty, when they both finished a race Chandhok only beat Senna once. Senna has not been given a chance yet in F1, that HRT does not count because not even his uncle could look good in it, especially seeing as it was even slower than the other HRT. Senna deserves a chance because he was very unlucky not to get the Honda 2009 seat after impressing Ross Brawn after his test and it was only the fact that Honda pulled out of F1 that prevented him getting it. He has beaten drivers such as Maldonado, Buemi, Petrov, d'Ambrosio and Kobayashi in GP2 who are now all in F1, so why should Senna not be given a chance?

Senna beat all his team mates and it was only his catastrophic reliabilty that prevented him from destroying them. In the entire season Senna had 9 DNFs, 1 was a driver error in Barcelona where he got a bit carried away after having an excellent start, another one was at Singapore after Kobayashi crashed on the racing line and the marshalls were not quick enough with the yellow flags and Senna coming around the blind corner could do nothing to avoid the crashed car, the other 7 DNFs were down to mechanical failures. Senna's average grid position was 22.3 and his average finishing position was 17.4 which is a climb of 4.9 which I think is very good. He was also the only HRT driver to outqualify a different team car in normal conditions. It is also worth noting that Senna outqualified Chandhok at Monaco while driving a damaged chassis.

Where has this beaten by Yammomoto thing come from? He was outqualified by him once when he must made a mistake or something because he was very slow. In that race bruno finished ahead. In another Bruno lapped yammomoto. The average qualy gap to his teammate was -0.54 . The 5th best on the grid. Fair enough that is skewed by bahrain (where chandhok hadnt lapped) but it is also skewed the other way by the likes of Brazil (where bruno wasnt sent out on the best tyres)

Well, it seems Senna left the wrong impression on me. I appear to have been corrected.

    Thanks Mifune.:emoticon-0150-hands
