you'll see from the hashtag that i'm suggesting you're an illiterate prig and/or pished ... nothing about the game
You feel Benny would have seen that problem about to happen, and would have chased Lescott to stand next to him when the ball flew over their heads. Studge has no honour like that.
Ironic that this was the second match in a row we played to a backdrop of thousands of fans walking out en masse
Gotta say, really hope that we can see the Firmino, Coutinho and Sturridge trio develop towards the end of the season. I'm SURE they will IF Sturridge stays fit, he has a long way to go but we look such a far more potent team with him in it. Fair play to Origi as well by the way, say what you want but when he's featured he's proving to be a solid little back up and we don't have to change our game to get him in there. Also saw a stat that Firmino has contributed to more goals than any other player in the league in 2016. He's starting to hit some form, perhaps finding a little bit of consistency in his game which you'd expect as you acclimatize to the league and the country etc. Our midfield is poor but I'm happy to see a more workmen like trio in there in Henderson, Can and Milner if the front three stays fit.
Side note - 5 goals and 6 assists for Milner this season. A reasonable amount for a midfielder to chip in with, despite being off the boil in some games he's overall been a solid signing for us and has been largely underrated.
Yes i agree that they need to develop from here. 1. need to play 90 in capital one cup final and win it. 2. need to develop towards a peak in europa league final. (in our ideal world view) Origi scored a nice one there. he's got to focus on running the line and stretching teams i feel and he will do well. firmino has to find a way now he's not no 9. that means he cannot ignore his duties in the wide areas... frankly villa were awful, but... our cms could be covered by a postage stamp when we were defending and any side worth its salt could just go wide and cut us up. workmanlike is indeed a good decription but they have to do a lot more to cover the width of the pitch than they did v villa. they were poor.
fair point. mixed bag form him but lots of work rate and only one who can take a free or corner it seems
I'll take that result.. More importantly, I'm happy to see our first choice front on the pitch for the first time this season! No injuries to report.. If we "manage" Studge, then, dare I say it, he may last the rest of the season. If so, we may go on a decent run in the EL and who knows, may have a chance in the Final. Also, lets be honest, that wasn't our most fluid performance going forward, we happened to score those goals in part due to Villa being shockingly poor! They won't make it out of the Championship if they play like that! Other than the EL game, we have a nice week+ off after that until the Final, should hopefully mean we get a few more players back from injury...
