I think you should be making a donation. By shutting down you went for a walk, twisted your knee, and now you're I was just thinking that perhaps you ought to be donating to the forum. In shutting down, Not606 gave you the perfect excuse to go for a walk, where you twisted your knee. And now you can spend 100% of your time on here. Whoopee for you.
I am getting lots of cups of tea and plenty of sympathy and hence am getting away with a lot more than I usually.
Anyone able to recommend a Freeview box? The hard disk on my Sagemcom box is failing (which means I can't see the 8-0 win, Wales beating England in the World Cup or Andy Murray winning Wimbledon ) I'm never buying another Sagemcom device and really just need the basics - recording at least 2 programmes at the same time, recording radio (which this unit can't do) and pause/rewind live TV. So, any units to steer clear of or that you'd recommend?
We use a Humax. It's never, not once, failed to work perfectly. Just checked and it certainly looks like it records radio as well, though I've never used this facility. It's model HDR Fox T2, but may well have been superseded. Humax don't seem to have bad words against them from owners. Vin
For those that were wondering: Mick the site owner has been busy trying to rewrite some code in the Xenforo system in which this site sits. There is a problem where bad people (from other boards, naturally) have been using the tagging functionality to insult each other. Mick was trying to work out how to remove the ability to use tagging from individuals. 3 site breakdowns later it still doesn't work...
Open the Sagemcom. Look at the HDD. Buy a replacement to the same specification. Clone HDD. Install in Sagemcom. Close box. Keep the old HDD as an emergency backup.
Ah, I was wondering if it was the xenforo system. Did he find Luke Skywalker while he was trying this?
You wouldn't believe how easy some of it is. I could sit half of you lot down for a few hours and afterwards you could solve most of the technical errors that you encounter. I say half because the other half would be too timid to try. Which is a shame because there's no techy miracle involved.
Thanks. Do you not know anyone with a good grasp of technology? Most people know at least one person.
Open the Sagemcom. - can do that Look at the HDD. - can do that Buy a replacement to the same specification. - can do that Clone HDD. Ah! Bit of a problem for me Install in Sagemcom. - could probably do that Close box. - can do that Keep the old HDD as an emergency backup.- can do that I do hopefully know someone who could do the cloning...
