You are right A87. United fans refuse to accept that their golden era is finished never to be replicated again.
The Gooners on this site are ****ting their pants at the thought that we may, this season, not only finish above them, but win the title. They intuitively sense that their (virtual) lives on this site will be irreparably changed for ever, and very much for the worst. They know that the world as they now know it would be over. The likes of IQ87 and Pixie would bite your hand off, right here and now, if you offered them 4th spot on the basis that we finish below them in 5th. I'm sure there are some Spurs fans on this site who would scoff, and attempt to take as much advantage from such a scenario as they possibly could, wumming relentlessly and with cruel and callous abandon, but not me. I am above all of that.
It is actually true. Their fear of Spurs is stronger than the excitement of being in a title race. Guess that's what a decade of bottling it does to you. The specialists of failure are now the specialists of fear
The problem, in the past, has been that Spurs have been no where near Arsenal. Sure, we've always been a side that has been able to turn good sides over, but we've lacked the consistency to string those kinds of performances over an entire season. Things have changed during the Levy era. He has worked hard to build a club that has everything it needs to operate at the highest levels, and with Poch he has found the perfect manager to get all the necessary elements working together. Finally, we have a side that concedes few but scores many, a side with spirit and the belief that it can achieve great things; above all, a young, strong side that has fitness and flair in abundance, and which knows that it can succeed. In the past, around this time of the season, the likes of Pixie and IQ87 would have been engaging in the mutual masturbatory ritual of predicting "St Totteringham's Day." But listen, guys!.... Nope. Not a fcuking murmur!
Partially agreed. Wumming A(IQ)87 is akin to kicking a sick, crippled dog. Piskie, on the other hand will be getting it large!..
"It is actually true. Their fear of Spurs is stronger than the excitement of being in a title race. Guess that's what a decade of bottling it does to you." Their fear of losing their CL piggy trough slot (and the impact on their wage bill + Kroenkes' "cash reserves" ) is far stronger than their fear of Spurs.
Yes, that is undoubtedly true of the club; but for the fans, especially the ones who frequent this site, the greater fear is that we will finish above them. And us winning the title is so abhorrent to them that I wouldn't be surprised if IQ87 fainted every time the thought crossed his mind - which will be fairly often, at the moment.
And if Arsenal do finish above Spurs again, HIAG is going to face such humiliation for giving it large.
Some of the Gooners at work, you can almost sense their fear of not only finishing below Spurs but at the price of also losing out on the title. They will never live it down.
Indeed, Lee. The usual strutting arrogance has fled every single Gooner I know (in the real world). One of them - hitherto a Pixie-like conceited wumster - is even trying to endear himself to me by telling me that Spurs have a real chance of winning the title. It's pathetic! I'm having none of it, because I know only too well that should Spurs fail to finish above Arsenal this season every single one of those Gooners will be back like a pack of hyenas, giving it larger than ever.
