Sherwood would have at least given them some heart FFS and taken some risks. This lot are so bad it's almost funny, including the manager!
Well I wasn't expecting that tbh. Looking at the teamsheet with Coutinho, Fimino and Sturridge is definitely a threat though. Having a guy who you can rely just makes such a huge difference. It takes the pressure off everyone else knowing that there is a good chance you'll score a goal or two which has not been the case for much of the season. We need him fit. Its a conundrum.
Villa gave up before the turn of the year. Why else did they choose not to sign anyone when rooted to the foot of the table?
We had to wait so long to get Sturridge, Firmino and Coutinho on the same pitch - and it didn't disappoint!
I agree. I don't actually think Sherwood is that bad and can make a decent manager. I thought getting rid of him was poor because they wouldn't be able to replace him with better. He's analysing Villa tonight on tv. Bet he'll love it! I would.
Benteke has missed about 6 easier versions of that this season I'm not one for bashing Big Ben as he does give us options, and I'd definitely keep him as he will improve, he's simply having a nightmare at the moment.
Origi has scored league goals against Villa and West Brom. Benteke has done it against Leicester, Man Utd, Southampton, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Sunderland. #perspective
Not sure but either way they were never going to buy themselves out of trouble. No decent players would have gone there. Probably meaning a bit of both tbh.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports: "The whole package was not too bad today. Everything good happened today because Aston Villa were very ambitious before the game but under pressure. We made a brilliant first goal. We had a few more chances and this was very important. It does not happen too much where as a manager can enjoy the last 20 minutes. A very clear result in the end. "It makes a difference having both Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge are on the pitch, you can only play them when they are fit and available. We want the highest quality on the pitch as much as possible, you saw that today. "We are always clear. When you are injured and out, you need time and when you are back, you are back. It is a situation where you want to play football, it is good Sturridge can do this now. "We have two Europa League games coming up, then the League Cup final. They are big games and we will see who we can bring in. "We broke the opponent after the third or fourth goal. After that they cannot come back into the game."
im sure the rest of the league would like that but no, Benteke. its just not going to happen for him with us imo
Hold my hands up, thought it would be a sneaky Villa win or a bore draw. Didn't expect that in a million years! OK, call me a pessimist but do you really blame me after recent performances and results? Just goes to show what a quality player can do to inspire a mediocre line-up: Sturridge/Countinho made all the difference
Or maybe he thought Origi fitted the formation we were playing I wouldn't read too much into that tbh.
