We do seem to be having some rather severe gremlin issues.

No team was in the same league as St. John Fisher , at least not in my era . The reason being that we didn't have football teams in the first two years -after then the rugby team wouldn't have been quite as good because some of us went over to football - not enough of us though , we were rubbish .
Only rugby team that troubled us was Wyvern -we very literally wiped the floor with everyone else . PE teacher was Howard Firth who was semi pro at Hull FC , he was a winger , so we played a passing game -not a rugby fan , but we could really zip the ball along the line , overlap , criss cross, the works -at 10 and 11 years old!

    We should migrate to ja606.

It has more people on it anyway.

I didn't know he'd taught at those schools. He was my form tutor and a really nice fellow as were all the teachers at Shaw Park. And yes he taught science.

Bah, Fisher were pussies :emoticon-0172-mooni The best result they got v Shaw Park was a draw and that was only because I ****ed a glorious chance to score a try. I'll never live that one down:headbang:

I can only see this going one way. So, in a change from our usual venue. I suggest you two meet up on Dane Park playing fields for a bit of mano v mano rugby.

You so funny Mr Kempton . :( Extra E and E team (sounds like a 90's rave) 1971-73 .Extra E played against every other team in the year above us , Es against our own age group -decimated the league , including your alma mater . League , cup and sevens winners .
Funny thing about the pussy comment is everyone thought Marist were a bunch of wusses till they played us!

Don't know why and I don't know if we were the only school that named them this way but in age ascending order we had extra E , E , D and C. Extra E because as far as I am aware there was no competition for that age group , hence we played against older teams . Also no idea why it went E to C , and not , say, C to A . Team did well because all the sporty kids played , no other outlet.

Just a thought-if you continue the sequence B and A , your next level is First 11/13/15 .This might explain it

No problem , it was a nice reminder - I don't often look so far back when I do my middle aged reminiscing . God , we use to bus and cycle all over for matches -now the little darlings want door to door delivery .
Shaw Park ? Thick green and black hoops, smallish playing field?

Green and white hoops like Celtic. My boots were shocking, two sizes too big and my shirt was full of holes <laugh> Great days

Could have sworn it was green and black with black shorts . If it was green and white I am sure my mate would have gone there -keen Celtic family , the McCahills. Think I had my grandad's old boots -rubbed my ankle bones, stiff as a rock ! But yes , great days , wish I could go back !
