He is a geordie though - they all said that when we signed him - OK we argued but he's just proving it...

Or is it a case of "you can take the player out of Middlesbrough......"

Well in this case, it's not about where he's come from, it's about where he's going... he's about to enter the Hall of (arse) Pain

He'll be protected because of who he is when he's inside - I used to volunteer at Durham prison when it was a high security and "disgraced celebs" were always protected from the general population in there - as I've worked for the courts service it truly also wouldn't surprise me if his sentence was suspended or he was held at his home or something and unable to leave - I just know how **** the justice system is in this country!

Touch of sarcasm in my comments Gordon! When we signed Johnson do you not remember the infestation of mags coming on here saying he was one of theirs (the "Haha you've signed another geordie" or "another one of our supporters playing for your club"? I do!!

Will he go to Durham prison? He's being trialed at Bradford... not sure how that works. I'm sure there'll be plenty of toon-supporting inmates who'll be dying to stomp all over his chopper, if he ends up in Durham.

Sadly you're right though, he's gonna get an easy ride like every other convict in this country.

I don't think he'll end up in Durham - just really stating my experiences from when I was there - I reckon it'll be the same in other prisons too although I can't definitely say it will

Can't see why people are having a go at Sunderland fans or the club to be honest. Johnson has obviously lied through his teeth to everyone for the last year. He's been quite happy to deny everything whilst picking up £60K p/week knowing that he was guilty. He's been found out now though. He's not just someone who has preyed on a teenage girl, he's also effectively committed fraud to some degree. He always struck me as an arrogant twat. Chickens coming home to roost for him now.

don't know if its been mentioned but a new jury is to be picked.
usually when either the defence or prosecution don't like what they see??

Personal circumstances of one of the jurors apparently. Could be that one of the jurors has had a family member affected by a similar crime indicating potential bias from the start.

Irrelevant, could be any number of reasons why this is happening.

Most likely one of them has blurted out some garbage on a social media site 5 years ago about kiddie fiddlers or something.

A new jury of eight women and four men is being sworn in at Bradford Crown Court for Johnson’s trial.

That suggests that the one juror involved has said or done something that may affect the views of the others.

Jury selection has just begun at Bradford Crown Court.

Judge Rose is ensuring that no one selected is connected to the case in anyway."

Sounds like one of the jurors was either a relation or friend.

Yeah that doesn't mean they've selected 12 completely different people.

The judge has a load of cards and he shuffles them and picks out 12 at random. When they had to ditch one, I guess he told the entire jury to sit back down and he'd start the process again. Some of the original jurors could have been re-selected again.

    It's just a collective term.

Prosecution barrister Kate Blackwell QC is about to open the case against Johnson.

“His is the success story many young people can only dream of”, she said as she outlined Johnson’s successful footballing career.

At the time of the alleged incident Johnson lived at Castle Eden in County Durham with his girlfriend Stacey Flounders who was pregnant in December of 2014.

Prosecuting Kate Blackwell QC tells the court Johnson’s alleged victim was a teenage superfan.

She said: “Her real passion was Sunderland Football Club. She was a season ticket holder and rarely missed a home game. Her favourite player was Adam Johnson.

“After matches, she would hang around waiting for a glimpse of him, wanting to get a photograph, often sporting a Sunderland shirt with Johnson’s name emblazoned across the back.”
