I was eleven years old in 86 and remember being blown away by this live concert. The BBC broadcast it with the audio also in synchronization on Radio One or Two so you could listen in stereo while watching on TV.

My dad put his really expensive at the time hifi speakers to each side of tv set and had had it on loud while taping the radio broadcast on a C90 cassette.

And just to add to all the excitement we had a really loud and prolonged thunder storm here in Reading. A house only a few streets away from where I grew up got struck by lightning and had half the roof blown away. Nobody hurt as they were out.

Rendez-vous Houston: A City in Concert was a live performance by musician Jean Michel Jarre amidst the skyscrapers of downtownHouston on the evening of April 5, 1986, coinciding with the release of the Rendez-Vousalbum.[1] For a period of time, it held a place in the Guinness Book of Recordsas the largest outdoor "rock concert" in history, with figures varying from 1 to 1.5 million in attendance. Rendez-vous Houston is remembered for being the concert which celebrated the astronauts of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, which had happened only two and a half months beforehand. One of Jarre's friends, astronaut Ron McNair, had been killed in the disaster.[2] He was supposed to play the saxophone from space during the track "Last Rendez-Vous"; his substitute for the concert was Houston native Kirk Whalum.

I was at this Monsters of Rock.
16 years old, me and a mate on a coach to Donington for some mosh pit fun!
My last rock concert before I turned into a raver.
I'm still happy that I got to see Iron Maiden before they split up.

Top post about the reggae SD and totally agree even tho Bob Marley was a legend. He got a helping hand by coming over to the UK and re recording loads of his work in a good studio with a top studio engineer.

A close friend of mine from school days was a huge reggae fanatic and to this day has some very rare and highly sort after limited records he got on green sleeves and from mail order. Due to this I got a true education of this music from a proper geek. Reggae music was a huge part of my early life's soundtrack. Many a care free summer was spent chilling out with some Dub, lovers rock and all the many other styles of this fantastic music. Happy days indeed!
