I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting a little worried that Stevies recovery may not be going quite as well as Liverpool would have us believe... Whilst he missed the Asia tour, and there have been occasional press speculation this might be the case, more concerning to me is the way they always put a photo of Stevie in amongst the Melwood training snaps (presumably so we all think he's training) but he's always only ever standing around... Has anyone heard anything more concrete?
I havent. One of our posters claims to have a mole at Melwood, and he stated everyone knows it's much worse than anyone is saying. Might be rubbish. But I have a feeling it might not be. Good thread mate! Essential!
I'm still feeling optimistic. He has had his groin surgery a couple of months ago and he has had pre-season to recover. I'm still confident he will be raring to go at the start of the season. It is important not to rush him. We now have squad depth and that means we don't need to rush Gerrard back. Having him 100% fit is better than having him back a month early and him being 80% fit.
I have a mole on my arse but I don't believe a word it says. Seriously, I've been a bit worried for a while now about Stevie's injury but didn't bother posting because I was expecting to get called a pessimist.
That made me chuckle! I know it's not proven source. But it backed up mine, and it appears yours, concerns. Anyone got any pics?
I re-post this with some trepidation, in case we start off a load more source/sauce nonsense... I was the poster who has a contact at Melwood. This is what he originally sent through to me last week via text: "Henderson looking good in training. Unreal Engine. Downing off to look at Joe Cole’s house this avvy (so looks like Cole is off). Gerrard is f****d. Nobody ever had this injury to compare it to, so don’t know how it will get better. Deffo missing start of season." I think there's more to this than meets the eye. And I'm definitely trying not to be pessimistic.... GKRK.
I noticed that the last set of pics showed no action shots of Gerrard. At the end of last season a doctor friend of mine suggested that the problem might not be a groin injury at all but may have more to do with the tissue that would have to be used to make the repair. Unless you can find 'good' tissue then the repair will not hold. Let's hope that is not the case.
Cheers for putting your head over the parapet! Who is your contact then? A mate? How can we validate the source? What did he see?
I'm a GP so certainly no orthopaedic / sports surgeon but I think ur mate meant that if a muscle has been torn badly it's replaced by scar tissue which is much weaker and hence more likely to tear again and more likely to break down if stitched together... Which is essentially why players like Aurelio who are rushed back to play are always tearing the same hamstring... Obviously generally the longer a tear is left to heal the stronger it becomes, which may be why (if the docs are a bit unsure) he's sitting out most training
Not wanting to appear cagey about it, B4F, but I really can't reveal who it is, because he has a job at stake! He's normally quite reliable and certainly do drama queen. Will try to do some digging around tomorrow... GKRK.
I'm no physician so i think he was trying to explain the same scenario. From my own experience I have a number of abdominal incisional hernias which my consultant believes are probably due to a form of degenerative tissue dissorder. Perhaps this may aslo be Gerrards problem?
Think NO action shots of him is worrying, usually they have one of someone coming back from injury jogging, on a bike something. Also had a mate who tore his quad, never got it sorted til like a year later ( still tried playing on it), when he went and go it seen, it was all ****ed, has a massive groove in his thigh of no muscle and clump at the top where it has split. Weird. Also means he can hardly play now except for once a week type deal. Hope it is nothing like that with the groin as that would be horrible.
I tore a muscle in my groin years ago. It healed short and I can't move that leg outwards as far as it should. I woke up in agony every now and then at night for a couple of years too though that doesn't happen any more. I could still play footie though if I wasn't too old. And ****e.
