Just as long as Mig, Skrtel, Lovren, Lucas, Hendo, Milner, Lallana, Benteke aren't first teamers next season, I'll be happy! Grujic, Markovic and Matip (likely to join) will be joining in the summer.
I spit tea out reading this: James Milner will give young Liverpool stars a “kick up the rear” if they mess up Liverpool’s vice-captain has praised our youngsters, who’ve done so impressively during various cup runs this term, but has promised he won’t let them rest on their laurels. The likes of Kevin Stewart, Brad Smith, Cameron Brannagan, Pedro Chirivella among others have played above themselves in the League Cup and FA Cup, as well at the very start of the campaign under Brendan Rodgers in the Europa League. Against West Ham on Tuesday, Stewart did especially well, while young Portuguese duo Tiago Ilori and Joao Teixeira also impressed. “We’ve had a lot of injuries this year and you want those boys to come in and not just fill that spot for the time being but to push whoever’s holding that shirt and be part of the squad, improve and become better players as well,” Milner said, reported in the Echo. “We can help with that and ultimately they’re the future of this club so the more games they get, the more experience and the more they can learn, it’s obviously better for everyone. “They’ve got their heads on their shoulders, their feet on the ground, and they know what they want to achieve. “If they don’t, that’s where we step in and give them a kick up the rear but I don’t see that being too much of a problem.” I’m sure there’s many fans who’ll feel Milner himself needs a kick up the rear following some stale recent performances, but it’s good to know the 30-year-old isn’t shirking from his responsibilities. Now we’re out of the FA Cup though, there won’t be any chances for the youngsters unless we’re resting players in the Premier League or another injury crisis strikes. We’re likely to go strong in the Europa League as it’s our best chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. However, the likes of Stewart and perhaps Brad Smith are very much knocking on the first-team door already.
FSG aint going to finance signing 8 new first team players partuicularly with having the hump over the ticket price climbdown
I see a lot of change happening this summer. To stick worn my reputation for repeating myself; Klopp shifted 17 players and brought 13 in in his first summer at Dortmund. He's not scared of using the axe!
Over the last five years, we've had a net spend of just over £30m. The tv money kicks in this summer that she's us get a extra £30m composted to last year. Plus Player sales.
but in 2014 we recorded our first profit in 7 years and that was just £1m having recorded a near £50m loss the previous year plus the £120m interest free loan for the the ground updates needs covering . Net transfer spend is irrelevant the only thing that matters is the bottom line. Now FSG may be prepared to gamble big and replace most of the first team for Klopp but sooner rather than later LFC needs to become self financing. i also worry about the constant churn of players in the last tew years which i think has contributed to our dysfunctional first team never mind our unbalanced squad
Only way we become self financing is if we're successful on the pitch. They've also said the stadium developments won't effect our transfer budget. We will have money to spend. Zero doubt in my mind.
We'll only get eight if players leave and even then, it's not going to be eight £30m players is it. I think it all depends on who moves on. Klopp wanting then gone is one thing, actually getting them out the door is another.
oh yes it always gets me when posters say "X is **** sell him and use the £25m to buy Y" if a player is **** surely other people may have spotted this little fact. then again never underestimate the lunacy of football clubs
