They don't care about austerity and fixing the economy. They're making ideologically based changes to the country and it's infrastructure and using the financial crash as a smokescreen. Sell everything off and make a load of money for a very small amount of people. Brilliant.
Tbh the thing that really bothers me about the Tories is the slow erosion of our freedoms and privacy that seems to go unchallenged since the lib Dems got the boot. It's the ideology and morality of certain decisions that get me rather than the economic decisions.
It annoys me more that individual ministers seem to get blamed for doing what their party wants them to do. Jeremy Hunt is a complete twat. Virtually everyone seems to agree on that. He's not doing this **** on his own, though. He's doing what he's been put in that role to do.
He's a twat alright, but he isn't just a puppet for somebody else's motives. He is determined himself to push through the contracts for junior doctors, despite basically everybody telling him that it's unworkable and will create a shortfall in service elsewhere.
Yes, but he's not some maverick who's ignoring what Cameron wants him to do. He'd be out the door in a second if he was. We all know that the Tories want to privatise the NHS and are doing it via backdoor methods. This isn't some rogue minister doing it by himself.
When you say a Tory rogue minister it makes me think of Jacob Rees-Mogg though I'm in stitches thinking of someone so posh as a rogue
I agree that it's the bigger aim for the Tories, but I would say that Hunt is well onside with that mantra and he's a big driver in that desire to privatise the NHS. He's completely embedded in the right wing culture as was demonstrated he was culture secretary and cozied up to Murdoch's news corp after Vince Cable was 'removed' for declaring war on Murdoch. James Naughtie got it right when he accidentally called him what everybody else was thinking on Radio 4.
Fakest coughing fit ever: A man with completely anti-NHS views doesn't end up running it by accident. The Tories know how to get elected and you don't do it by challenging the media or big businesses.
I am definitely bothered by the slow erosion of our liberties (and the attacks on our human rights and workers rights is downright alarming!). It was started by labour after 9/11 who made the uk the most CCTV'd country in the world. But im equally as bothered by their economic strategy which has literally killed tens of thousands of our most vulnerable people, severely inhibited social mobility and has made the British economy a car crash. All the while selling off the NHS and BBC, different public services to the lowest bidders. There's a skills crisis coming soon, and there's some quite strong evidence we could be heading for another recession in the next few years.
Last time I went to Llandudno, after I'd been for a conference in Venue Cymru we went for a drink somewhere, the 1st place we went, a real rough couple were arguing like something out of Shameless in the bar, then 30 minutes later they got chucked out for shagging in the toilets! Plus they still sell gollywogs up there in the tourist/souvenir shops - classy!
It would if the police actually used it to stop general crime - ie theft, car crime, B&E, ect but most of the time they don't even look at the footage when those incidents occur, and don't press charges - just issue a crime number. Hardly a deterrent!
Was it an elderly couple that swore in Welsh? It's probably our resident moderator, the original dirty grandpa...
