Nah mahrez for me. Volleys look more spectacular and of course he flicked it over jedinak but the way mahrez lifts the ball over otamendi then muds demichelis offf with the lollipops and smashes it on his weaker foot past head and shoulders who didn't even move makes me this his was better

 

Mahrez as been fantastic and is without question the player of the season imo but Alli's goal was better. The control, setup, volley and placement where all perfect.

 

20 yards..... c'mon it wasn't near edge of box....

 

It was about 3 yards from the 18 yard box so yes... it was just over 20 yards.

people only ever attempt these sorts of efforts (and score) against crap keepers imo... how on earth you can get beaten like that is beyond me..different if the keeper has been pushed up for a corner late on or something but mig was to blame for that goal.

The semi-circle is about three or four yards (can't remember exactly) which the Liverpool player is in line with. Vardy is as far again from the eighteen yard line. Plus he's shooting from and angle too which actually makes the line further than eighteen yards from the goal (the penalty area is oval).

 

Lets give him some credit, it's a great strike and had a pool player scored it, most posters would rightly be praising him.

As for the distance, the corner of the 18 yard box is 25.45 yards from the nearest post (its a right angled triangle basically) and he's 5 yards outside it, so its 30 yards and Ming is on his 6 yard line. It's a bloody good goal imo!

The other thing there is you can see Migs' positioning. Is there anything wrong with that position considering where the ball is and the run of play? The shot Vardy hits is a looping volley and it goes in the top corner. Perhaps a bit harsh to say he should save it.

 

I would have saved it and I'm 5ft7

i'm sorry but mingolet is not in a bad position there. the ball is hoofed from midway inside leicesters half. The keeper in that case should be on his 18 yard line to sweep up. however the ball drops half way inside our half with two players near vardy so the keeper should not be coming for it. He should be out on the edge to cover longer balls so the line can stay higher.

Vardy started on sahko who let him in behind him and lovern came across goal side but was way behind his CB partner. The ball bounces once, vardy adjusts himself and hits it as it drops.

Mingolet is on 6 yard line... if he were glued to line and vardy ran past lovern as he did half the nihgt he'd be savaged, if he was out trying to cut it our he'd be savaged.

Vardy hit a beauty. I'd make it 28 yards from goal using my keen ete. he might be 20 yards from end line but not from goal

 

And I never said it wasn't a good goal by the way... I'm just saying having seen it for first time today it's not what I was expecting from the descriptions of "t's possibly the best goal I've seen" which one of the pundits claimed

Way it was described was that it was a 40 yard volley.. when in reality it's a 25 yard half volley on a slight angle.

 

Just wumming. Slow work day. In all seriousness that picture didn't do mingers howler justice. Haven't seen it in a while but i think minger starts to come out changes his mind and starts back peddling. The picture above shows minger on his 6 yard live but vardy has already struck that ball and it's already travelled a bit. When minger dives got it cause hes back peddling he dives funny and isn't jumping up but more to the side so doesn't get much elevation.

I should also declare a vested interest.

I use to watch him down the shay. We may been playing in the Northern Premier (Evo-Stick) in those days but he scored a bunch of worldies for us and had attributes that i knew would worry defenders at a far higher level (although TBH, i was thinking Championship would be his level). I told a mate who's a pro scout about him and he said he had a rep as a bit of a dick off the field, so that had scared a few off.

He's knuckled down and fair play, i'm made up for him. He's off to the Euros I reckon.

 

And lfc should have had their cbs closer together and playing him off or marking him properly.

He started in our half so he should have been off but if you also look the guy running in was completely free so if vardy had controlled it he'd have had a pass on

Lfc are key all up pitch chasing. Sahko running off line a bouncy dog gets caught wrong side and lovern covers but allows vardy to get set as he assumes no way he is shooting.

No cm chases back.

So we blame the keeper cos it looped over him?
