So, if the worst happens and Mauricio was to move on to another club (which personally I don't think he would) Who would everyone like to see replace him ? Not too many options at the moment - Pellegrini !?!?!
Really is unthinkable at the moment but if worst was to happen I really don't know what I'd want. A small part of me would be open towards hiring within, I know it didn't work too well with Tim but Poch seems to have installed his philosophy around the club from U18s upwards and so I'd like to think someone can step up (Ehiogu? John McDermott? Kieran McKenna?) and take over, although it seems like Poch and his staff's man management and not just coaching ability are what brings out the best in players and so it wouldn't necessarily work with someone else and it's a huge risk as all three have no Prem level (or equivalent) management experience. Externally, a stand out option would be someone like Pellegrini who's got an impressive CV of winners medals and also knows the Prem but I'd probably prefer someone like Eddie Howe, I'm a big fan of his and I think a young manager would be more suited to this side. Of the options from what I can think of, I think I'd go with Eddie Howe, although I really hope we don't need to make this choice any time soon.
If I was cynical...nah, welcome to the board. Not sure Levy would allow him to break his contract. Also think Poch would be insane to not give it at least 3 years. As rival fans are quick to point out he hasn't actually achieved anything over here, so why wouldn't he want to give it a few years as the team has so much potential. Only likely to happen if Levy sells Alli, Kane, Lloris and/or Alderweireld, and I can't see that either. That said, De Boer was apparently close last time. He'd get my vote.
I also think it's unlikely, in the short term at least. IF the worst happened, I wouldn't mind seeing Eddie Howe given a shot at it.
I'd be very wary of giving Eddie Howe a shot. Some people are just suited to one club and that seems to be the case with him. He played fantastic for Bournemouth as a player but didn't really cut it anywhere else. Same as management, he's done fantastic at Bournemouth, then he left for Burnley where he ****ed that right up and then came back to Bournemouth again where he continued being successful with the club.
I'd probably go for Klopp. I think he'd do well with our squad and I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to make the step up.
Back in for Frank de Boer? Howe or Mark Warburton might be left-field choices too, though personally I think they might be fine managers but they're not nearly ready for Spurs. Koeman, just to piss off our favourite Saints fans again? This doesn't really bear thinking about though.
Sorry having waited years for a manager who atm is doing all the right things I don't even want to think about an alternative.
Would be very happy with Pellegrini but I think he'd go to a 'big' club, his reputation is still very much in tact. Can't really think of anyone appropriate, hopefully no one British as the majority seem to be tactical troglodytes! All theoretical of course as we know Poch isn't going anywhere.
Why are we even having this discussion? Things are going well at Tottenham so let's enjoy this moment, appreciate what we have and look forward to the future, not debate over possible scenarios that may or may not happen. Just asking for trouble.
And this is the guy's one and only post so far. A cynic might think he was just trying to provoke us? Hope not, as new blood is always welcome.
Certain news reports saying Levy wants to tie Poch down to a lengthier contract, I'd say 2035 should suffice.
Did I accuse you of being negative fla? I take it back. I agree with you. At this stage we don't know about the good will or otherwise of this new poster HFDSpur. It would help if he joined in the debate he has started. As SD said we always try to welcome genuine new posters so let's hear from you HFD.
