I'm not a fan but to be fair, he did a very good job as the Commercial Director and was pivotal in landing some big sponsorship deals. He's not good enough to be MD - having said that, he's not top dog. Mike Gordon is the most senior person at the club and he's the one running the show. Ayre is just a front man.
He's not a leader and his style seems to be more reactive than proactive. FSG need to bring in someone better - hopefully Nicola Cortese is still available.
I don't really understand what the links have to do with it. So what he's been seen with pretty woman? I couldn't care less if he was shagging 10 a night if he was performing for us as well as them. If that's what he does to keep himself happy then so be it. Trouble is he isn't performing. Negotiation skills are horrific based on what the outcome has been. I don't like calling for someone's head but if there was a better candidate out there then I would replace him.
100% agree with this but how do we know it his him that's ****ing up negotiations? Okay, he agreed to pay crazy figures for the likes of Lovren, Lallana, Benteke, etc I'll accept that he is partly at fault and to blame here although i will add that others (especially Gordon who is part of the TC) signed the damn paperwork! However, what I'm getting at is the missed opportunities; The Plank, Henry Ryan, Willian, Salah, Costa, Alex T, Sanchez, etc. The committee search, access and agree on targets. Surely they also discuss what sort of budget is available for each player too? I don't think Ayre will go in single handedly and offer what he thinks is right (or wrong). I will have been told to go in at X but don't go any higher than Y. Any negotiations beyond that would have to be re-discussed. I guess what I'm questioning is, are his hands not entirely free? How would any of us know whether he has a free run or not?
He's a clown. The latest ticket fiasco sits at his door as he should have been able to foresee the reaction, as he's supposed to be their man with the knowledge of the game / locale. Taking strippers to the Directors box on the day it happened, says it all.
I agree in that its not just him who has made mistakes and allocating responsibility is not easy. The club is not particularly transparent. The missed signings are key for me. The ticket issue doesn't sit well either.
Well.. Failed Transfers Ticket Fiasco Dealing of Suarez inccidents (or not dealing) 2 failed managers on his short watch. Local Face of Club yet feeling of locals isolation at its highest since the last year of Hicks and Gillett. It's not a great CV he's been building as MD.
It's when he brings them along to the games that's the problem. I just think that it would be nice for someone with such a job to be professional, when I first saw the pics of him on Robbie Fowlers shoulders it was a facepalm moment and not because of what he was doing but because there was someone taking pictures (engage brain before ****ing about).
I honestly think yes. There's not another field of endeavor where a MD could get it this wrong and not get sacked. I mean this is major. the owners who are by their nature (and i've said this before is an issue) are absentee landlords. They might have had one total talk to supporters in the 9 months negotiations so its Ayre's responsibility to get this right. Look at tesco.. the guy has to fall on his sword. ... Yes the slappers are an issue. that's just being stupid in the extreme. That sums it up well IMO. time to go ian. you are a red but FSG made do at the time and if they put in "vast" sums (to them) for stands etc they need top brass on site to make it run.
I would love someone to come in and just be professional, really represent the club and be someone who is respected.
