Adam Johnson admits guilt ...

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by FosseFilberto, Feb 10, 2016.

  1. Indeed, I am. I also studied Jurisprudence at Cambridge, which included a very interesting study into the correlation between law and morality.

Incidentally, the reason why the Victorian reformists created a statutory age of sexual consent (set at 16 years) is because there was uproar over the incidence of child prostitution, which lead to rioting in some cities.

  2. Johnson has got to be a bit careful. Remember that lynch mob that nearly strung up some poor doctor on a Cleveland housing estate, a few years back? It wasn't until the police impressed upon the silly ****ers that he was a doctor of "paediatrics" that they relented from a street hanging.

I reckon you're the only person on the planet who has to pay to use Wikipedia. There's only so much cutting and pasting even a free service like that will tolerate!

  9. This part of our social history is hardly a secret, Stan.

Law & Morality was a subject that I took particular interest in at University, and still do. People often mistake my dispassionate view of the subject as akin to my cavorting with perverts and deviants, but that could not be further from the truth. The fact that I do happen to cavort with perverts and deviants has nothing to do with my academic interests.

  12. Hm.

I rather suspect, Aldo, that a lady who refers to herself as being a bit of a minx is the real reason behind your ardour.

Nope. It's the way she closes my threads with such aplomb. Pee a little in my pants every time she does it.

  17. If it is any consolation, Oscar Wilde was never understood in his own lifetime, either. Once the darling and, latterly, the scourge of polite Society, he was imprisoned with hard labour, and eventually died a penniless and broken man. Unless one suffers for one's art, one cannot truly be considered a genius, Aldo.

She may be stupid, immature, idiotic, manipulative etc. but that is cos she is a child...they are supposed to be like that...it's part of growing up. Some children behave like that to an extreme, normally due to various emotional difficulties in their lives...they deserve support, patience and kindness not men like Adams using them for sex.
He had sex with a child...there are no excuses, no reasons and no justifications for his disgusting behaviour...other than he is prepared to have sex with children.
He is a child abuser...and she is an abused child. He deserves punishment and she deserves protection from abuse

    Spot on.

I bet if any of us spoke to ourselves when we were 15 we'd consider some of our decision-making, approach to life and general life choices as naive, inexperienced and even stupid at times. That's precisely why we have these laws, to protect children from themselves. She's a 15 yr old ffs, not Joan Collins!

  20. Use of the word "child" is always emotive, but regardless as to whether or not you consider a 15 year old to be a "child" even the Victorians considered that girls under the age of 16 need protection from sexual predators and, if anything, they need even greater protection in today's world, given the joint facts that (a) the protective family unit has shrunk (since Victorian times), and (b) the growth of social media, and the risk that it poses to the more naïve within our communities, has been astronomical.
