    Love the way Jol says:

"I am delighted to have been able to add two talented young players to my squad with the signing of Pajtim Kasami today, and Marcel Gecov last week, as I believe that they are going to be good additions to the squad both in the short and long term future"

Shows that he is looking for a few years at the helm!

Lets hope that these relatively unknowns prove to be successful
in MJs, plans for a future younger team.
! But I still feel that we need a speedy established C/F or winger,
    prior to the season starting.

Confirms the rumours posted in earlier threads and bolsters the belief in Jol's youth strategy. Swiss U-21; played 24 times for Palermo last year, 8 in Europa League. So despite being only 19 carries a fair bit of experience. Viewed as a play maker and could be an interesting complement to Gecov in midfield.

Fee said to be about £3.5m.

Bets on who next? Quite exciting really.

If Cottager is right that Kasami is viewed as a play-maker, maybe we've finally signed someone to shadow Danny Murphy and eventually replace him. This sounds promising, and - despite roscafre's reservations - exactly the kind of signing we should be making. Does anyone know what kind of fee we are rumoured to have paid? I say rumoured, because as ever I'm sure the club won't be releasing that information.

Well he only signed a 5-year contract with Palermo last year, so he wouldn't have been incredibly cheap. Still, a good signing - looking to the future.

My guess is Palermo are skint. Kasami to us, Goian to Rangers and Pastore to A big money team - probs Chelsea.

Kasami's sqad number was 4 with them so not just an add on??

Good to see it says that Kasami is versatile and can be used in different positions.

Went on the Ajax FC website and noted that El Hamdaoui is not in the photos for the first team squad !! could it be he is out of contract or could it be that he got injured last season as he didn't play the last few games, don't know why, but interesting.

Sorry Cottager, don't know how I missed that. £3.5 million sounds a good price - not cheap, but a bargain if he turns out to be a good one.

So this summer we've replaced Dikgacoi (26) and Greening (32) for Gecov (23) and Kasami (19). Two players who were at best back ups to the starting eleven replaced with younger and, probably, cheaper alternatives who might challenge to become first teamers. For this to be good business, they don't need to be the new Murphy and Lee Clark, they need to be better than Dikgacoi and Greening. And if they do turn out to be the new Murphy and Clark then it's a fantastic bit of business.

I agree that this is a good signing. As we have said elsewhere there is always a risk with players who have no premiership experience being able to raise their game to the required level. This doesn't always work out but if even one of these 2 youngsters becomes a star then its money well spent and, as the Captain says, in the meantime the chances are that they will work out better than Dikgacoi and Greening, certainly over the medium term given the age difference.

The more I hear about this guy the more I like him. Really hope he plays tonight and, more importantly, next week so we can see him.
