Ferguson on Nani not long ago: "I don't need to trumpet his improvement. He has been consistent all season. "He is a match-winner who creates goals and he scores them. He had seven strikes against City and that is a high ratio for a winger, particularly in a big game. "He is showing maturity now. Every time he gets near the box you think something is going to happen. When you get that, you have a great player." How many of those 7 shots did Nani score against City? 1. Ferguson is saying that taking shots is a good thing and how many shots would Valencia take for example, likely 1 or 2. How many would he score likely 0. The reason Valencia does not take many shots is that he is not good enough to get into those positions. Nani will improve his accuracy and will get better but he has the ability. Nani will have a major role next season and will out assist and score Valencia by a big margin next season. If he does not it will because of injury as Nani is a much bigger threat than Valencia.
Comas, I like Valencia and think he a terrific admirable sportsmen and I like his attitude. That is why I am called Valencia.
You seem very confused!! You love Nani and call yourself after him, then when people wind you up saying valencia is better you then change your name to valencia 25, you are bizarre
If Rooney is to be Scholes replacement, and I can see that working, it still leaves a place up top to fill. And a top drawer Defensive Midfielder is something SAF simply does not have at his disposal. Putting the chequebook away now, having made significant moves to bolster the deficiencies of the squad, seems odd, and with Chelsea and Citeh I don't think he can afford to take chances this upcoming seaon
Assuming we sign no-one else, Carrick alongside Park might be the best option. Creativity combined with industriousness, although of course it's far from ideal.
Anderson must be involved in our best combo, probably alongside Carrick imo. Carrick is happy to sit deep, snuff out the opposition and start off attacks and does that job well against most teams. If he was deployed in that position, it would give Ando freedom to get forward and influence things. Anderson is our best CM by a distance imo and he just needs to be given the chance to show that.
It's looked that way in preseason. He's played a lot of football thus far. He was still played too deep last night for me but did his job well. If Carrick were to play alongside him, he should be able to get further up the park and that's where he can really shine imo. Anderson, given freedom to do so, is capable of doing a good job in front of his own box, in the centre of the park and in the opposition final third. I think he has the engine to get up and down that pitch but we're unlikely to see him do that unless he is trusted to do so. If he was playing alongside Carrick, who is very disciplined, I think we'd see the best of him.
I would play Anderson further forward, as one of a 3 behind the striker. For me his game is not suited to a deep position.
I thinki he's ideal for a 2, provided that he is allowed to get forward. That's why I'd like to see him alongside Carrick, who occupies a deeper role. I can't think of a United midfielder more suited to playing in a 2 than Anderson, as he has a great engine.
The last 2 games Ando has been played in the "Carrick" role with giggs roaming in the midfield. Ando should be played in that free role with Carrick behind him. Carrick protects the back four and does that very well, but lacks energy. Anderson has loads of energy and when he gets the ball the first pass he looks for is foward, where as Carricks is normally backwards or sideways. Everyone calls Anderson fat, but he's just stocky and strong on the ball. There were a few times in the game yesterday where he had 3 Chicago players trying to push him off the ball and he pretty easily kept a hold of it. The Ando-Carrick partnership is the best one we have. Carrick provides the defensive cover and good ball retention and Ando provides the muscle and energy to the center of our midfield. They don't need to be overly creative, Nani and Rooney will be our main creative outlets this year. The other partnership we need to think about is the Rooney Ando, or whoever is playing the more offensively minded CM is. Rooney will drop back into the midfield leaving space for said midfielder to make runs foward. Giggs was exceptional at that, but I think Ando should be given a chance in that position.
I know what you're saying, but honestly I don't think we should be playing a 2 at all. We need to offset lack of quality with quantity. We played a 2 with Anderson in the first half against Seattle, and their midfield was getting a lot of joy. Anderson noticeably became more frustrated as the half went on, getting caught out of position and hitting wayward passes. He has a short-range game in both his passing and shooting, and I just think it would be more effective if he were further upfield. And he could still put that engine to good use, by hustling defenders the way that Barcelona's little forwards do. What makes me think of Park for CM is that, amongst other things, Hargreaves was bought for his work-rate and energy levels. In Park we still have a player with similar attributes, although he's probably not as good at tackling.
He's not going to come out and say "he couldn't hit the side of a barn door with a machine gun and should never shoot again" is he, that would just be bad player management, but you can clearly see the frustration on Fergie's face (and Rooney's and plenty of other players around him) when Nani wastes good opportunities hitting speculative shots when there is clearly much better options around him, we all know he has the talent, now he just needs the brain to go with it.
SAF has just said in an interview 'the player we want is nt available at the moment' -who do you think he is talking about Nasri ? Sneijder ?
He actually said "The type of player we might have been looking for is not available." Which implies that all the top midfielders that we might have gone for (Sneijder, Nasri, De Rossi, Schweinsteiger) are either not available or not interested in moving.
Seen this on another forum, the guys not a bullshitter. Another 'source' that I have who is working here in Germany in the transfer business told me, that Inter are willing to sell and that a fee already has been agreed.Inter have to offload him due to the 'Financial Fair Play' rules, as he just earns too much and could bring in necessary funds. Moratti is currently paying all their bills as they aren't profitable enough due to the fact that they don't own their own stadium and the high wages they are paying. Inter are waiting for Sneijder to hand in a transfer request, because there could be the danger that if they sell him they could have to pay him the difference between the salary he earns at Inter and that at United, which could be pretty high as he extended his contract just last year until 2015. The rumour that Nike is interested in supporting us to pay the difference could be true. Adidas and Nike were involved in some big transfers in the past, as for example Beckham from United to Madrid (Adidas), Ronaldinho extending his contract at Barcelona (Nike) and even Ronaldo from us to Madrid (Adidas, as they wanted to see Nike biggest 'celebrity endorsement' in an adidas shirt). Sneijder as a superstar and United as a global marketing machine is tempting. He also mentioned that this saga should be sorted out by the middle of August.
Malagi Gorre ( some of you may remember her husband and her son is currently at United ) thinks there is a good chace Sneijder will come and she is often tweeting Sneijders mum ( apparently ) Isay apparently as it's just whatmy mate has told me. I don't do twitter so haven't seen anything but that is what I've been told if anyone who is on twitter knows how to look ?
