The window opened today. Can't see us wanting to do any other business. Not even sure that we can under the various rules and would we even want to given that the maximum is 5 loaned players in the match day squad?

    However we may lose some.

The first rumour is that Ipswich are eyeing up Ben Pringle.

For whatever reason he hasn't been and isn't going anywhere with us and Ipswich were one of his options in the summer. At the moment they've got injury problems with wing players so there could indeed be legs in the story.

My theory is Pringle was brought in as a central midfielder, as IMO he is never a winger, he played for Rotherham in central midfield both times against us and I rated him, but we then brought in Cairney who plays in the same position and is probably a better player, so he was accommodated out on the wing.
We seem to have an abundance of central midfield players who all need to play CM as their best position. Cairney, Pringle O'Hara, LVC, even Kacaniklic (who again for me is not a winger), Woodrow, all could play as AM, so apart from George Williams we don't have any out and out wingers. I've yet to see Labyad play to see if he is genuinely quick. .

All fair and valid points SuperBri. Incredible how many one footed lefties are among that lot.

Also speaks volumes, statistically, about our scouting strategy.

We seem to have had a penchant for creative attacking players who want to play a free role since Roy went - Dempsey flourished, then Ruiz, Berba and Taraabt came, I think Petric, Urby and Dembele could have done it. By contrast we've gone the opposite way with defensively minded Etuhu/Bairdinho types. The lack of balance has been worrying. It might well be a coincidence that we brought in so many club player of the year winners this year, and they are all good players, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of a very short sighted strategy.

The Pringle has indeed gone on loan.

"The Club can confirm that Ben Pringle has joined Ipswich Town on an emergency loan deal. Pringle has made 18 appearances for Fulham since arriving in the summer, scoring two goals, and he now joins up with the Tractor Boys who currently sit seventh in the Sky Bet Championship table."

A wee bit more surprising, so has Georgie Williams.

"The Club can confirm that George Williams has joined Gillingham on a youth loan until the end of the season. After a sustained period on the sidelines as he recovered from an ACL injury, the Wales international made his first appearance of the season in the narrow defeat by Hull City last month.

He joins up with a high-flying Gills side who are pushing for promotion from Sky Bet League One, as they currently occupy fourth spot in the standings
    ."

Perhaps not all that surprising if he's not in Slavi's plans since competitive game time in the League is what he needs. But Gillingham! Ah well, that just historical prejudice. So long as it works out for Georgie that's all that matters.
